Bichis rescue by Ithildin
Intro
In Bichis Rescue you're a young witch in charge of finding and claiming back a pack of small fantastical creatures, the Bichis, held captive inside bouncing bubbles of magical gum by some ill-spirited goblin.
Shoot your wand upwards and burst the bubbles to release them. Be careful not to be hit by the bubbles though!
Controls
Keyboard
- A, D or ⬅️➡️ keys - Move Left or right
- Z, X or Space - Shoot
Gamepad
- Left Stick - Move
- A on XBox, I imagine it's X on a PS controller.
Known issues (v0.0.4-5)
- Several people have reported that nothing happens in some rescue-based levels after you collect the required bichis. It's not critical and you can just wait until the timer expires to move to the next level, but I agree that it's annoying. <= Tentative fix in v0.0.5
- Level end pop up broken in certain resolutions. <= Tentative fix in v0.0.5, too.
Development
- Unity 6
- DoTween Pro
- Scene Reference by JohannesMP.
- Aseprite, for graphics.
- Chiptone, Samsung's Audio Recorder and Audacity for the very bare bones SFX.
- Obsidian for task tracking
Credits
- I worked by myself (I was aiming at a compo submission, but that's material for a post-mortem).

Changelog
v0.0.5 (11/10/2024). Bug fixing.
- Fixed issue when getting hit by a "loaded" ball would result in a bichi being collected before its time. This was also triggering an exception in the tweening library, so it might be related to the bug mentioned in the Known Issues section. I will really appreciate if anyone can let me know if it still happens.
- Layout fixes
v0.0.4 (08/10/2024). Jam submission
- Reuploaded builds without temporary crap and fixed a bug on a timer label leading to mistakenly thinking the game was broken.

Movement and response feels good aswell. Nice work
the best part of it for me was the dance XD
@ruruie My guess is that neither the "rescue" win condition or a lose condition were detected, so you ended up having to wait for the level timeout to tick. Sounds like a bug regardless, apologies!
It's funny that you can't shoot this ... I don't know what it is if the pre. is still flying up. It's interesting
Got stuck at level 4 with the win condition green...
Great Job
Simple mechanics and very cute art!! If i had to nitpick anything it would be the connection to the theme.
Overall great game, keep up the good work! <3
I had fun playing this and managed to complete all levels.
@wolfox121 @xacce @alexis-brochec I released a bug-fixing version that might hopefully have solved the issue. The bichi spawn balancing is still broken though, but it's not a bug per se: the level end/level result logic there is awful and is screaming for a rewrite.
@multiplexor fair point :D. I had several ideas in mind to put the bichis in the spotlight, but I ran out of time to actually do more with them (and to have more of them).
@enderswype hehehe, yes but not really  As @bloodbane mentioned, it was the Pang series that I had in mind. I didn't know about Bubble Trouble, but it seems to have been looking at the same game as I.
