Depths Of The Sleep by Gustavo Henrique de Moraes

A psychological journey beneath the surface of self.

You awaken in a place that feels both familiar and unknown. No name. No memory. Just fragments—echoes of a life you barely remember.

Depths Of The Sleep is a story-driven, card-based narrative game that blends emotional introspection with strategic choices.

BUGFIX 1.01: - Cards Hitbox are bigger now; - "Thanks" screen now adjust to all resolutions; - New info on the interface about how to pass the dialogues; - "Battery" card now works as intended; - Bigger spacing of the cards in hands for better visualization;

BUGFIX 1.02: - "Yourself" Card (Unfortunately 🙄) deals the right damage (1) intead of 10. - "???" Card deals the right damage (10) instead of 1 - The starting dialogue starts automatically instead of requiring to press c

BUGFIX 1.03: - The player's damage cannot heal the enemy and the enemy's damage cannot heal the player; - The enemy shield does not acumulate indefinitly and so the player damage works as intended now;

There is a big grey box in front of all the game content and I cant quite see a way to remove it? But there is cool sound design so thats nice.

O conceito me lembrou um pouco o Inscryption (do Daniel Mullins).

@willby There was a bug that require to press c to start the first dialogue, so it just looked like it was a random grey box, but it was already fixed! try out!

I return! The game looks and sounds pretty cool and feels very ominous. It took a while to figure out what was actually happening, there wasnt that much feedback. Eventually I think I understood. Fun little card game!

The controls aren't very intuitive, and it's unclear how many times you can redraw your hand. The card icons are too small and hard to see when not playing in fullscreen. Some in-game card descriptions would help too. That said, it's a good card game with interesting balance overall.

Like the aesthetic here!

Could definitely use a little help in the UX department. It was tough for me to tell/remember what the cards did just by looking at them, and I was initially pretty confused as to why I could place my cards on my opponent's side of the board and whatnot.

Still, I thought the art on the cards was neat, and I think the overall tone was pretty solid. :thumbsup:

Nice to see more card games, although time is running up and unfortunately I can't explore game in depth... If I could give an advice, 3d doesn't mix well with texts on cards, especially when zoomed out. Good luck!

I got stuck for a while before I managed to play any card, they kept just staying on the table and it was some trial and error to make it fit in the correct spot

The concept is quite neat and the card art is awesome, but I didn't quite understand how to play, nevertheless, it has potential ^^

Managed to get to phase 3 but couldn't beat it. The mechanics are a bit overwhelming at the begining (card games are very hard to explain in a jam game) but at some point I understood my resources (took a moment to realize the red bar is my health). For a long time I didn't know if my opponent took any damage until I realized the silver bar in the background is their health bar. Maybe adding symbols to bars could have helped to easier understand this. Otherwise I think I understood some interesting mechanics. But one problem I had was that you only see the opponents move at the end and you can't react to it. I think it would be more interesting to see the opponents cards and react to their play. But still an interesting and thoughtful entry with some cool ideas!

Solid entry! I liked the psychological take on the theme. The music and card illustrations help to create the proper mood. As for the gameplay, I don't really have any complaints, for the length of the game it's complex enough, though I imagine for a full-length game, the systems would need to be deeper. Still, I found it not too easy and not too hard, as I've failed a couple of times, but it wasn't frustrating.
