How to play

Use your mouse to drag each plug into a socket with the same color and shape. Both have to match!

Connect every socket to finish the job. You can unplug cables and move the machines around if things get messy.

Later, you'll get two different kinds of repair jobs:

Topology

No loops. The signal needs to travel from a source, through the machines, to a terminal without circling back on itself.

Otherwise, things explode.

Source Routing

There are two sources and two terminals. Each source has its own destination:

• S1 → T1
• S2 → T2

Keep their signals separate. Mixing them together or sending either one to the wrong terminal won't work, even if all the colors and shapes match.

A bit of dev rambling

I originally had a much bigger game in mind.

At first, the “Old Tech” part was supposed to look pretty straightforward: old machines, old cables, a little repair shop. But the idea I really wanted to get at was that ropes are old tech too. We've been using them forever. Hemp ropes, hauling lines, reins, steel cables, and eventually electrical wires and fiber-optic cables. Different materials, different uses, but I kept coming back to this idea of a physical line carrying something from one place to another.

I wanted the game to gradually get weirder as you started repairing things that had less and less to do with electronics, until that connection became obvious.

Turns out that was a lot of game to make. And a LOT of things to draw.

So it ended up as the little cable-matching puzzle game you see here. Still pretty fun, I think? I'm happy I finished it, though I do wish more of the original idea had made it in.

I didn't opt out of the Theme category because I'm curious how many of you buy this interpretation. Maybe you see the connection too. Maybe I've just been staring at cables for too long.
