Team Cocoa Moss is IN yet again for LD44
DDRKirby(ISQ) here, reporting that team Cocoa Moss will again be joining in for LD44! I'll be teaming with @xellaya again this time, using the usual suite of tools (Unity3D, FL Studio, etc.), along with the usual janky starter code -- this time also upgrading to Unity 2019 (which I've already taken for a test drive -- looking like it's ok so far!).
This'll be my 21st time entering Ludum Dare and my 13th time working with xellaya. At this point I don't have any real goals, but some points worth noting for this time: - We have an event on Friday night so will lose some brainstorming time, and xellaya will be unavailable on Monday, so we'll be a bit tighter on time than usual. We'll do our best to pick something manageable, but it's always hard to pick a game that's both interesting yet easy to make while still fitting the theme... =X - I've recently totally revamped my collection of instruments from classic SNES games! I haven't done a whole lot of work with SPC-style music so it may potentially be fun to take that for a spin this time!
I've already gone ahead and updated all the requisite libraries and programs, and forked over a new bitbucket repo as well as making a dropbox folder for asset sharing. I'm also ready to start cross-posting our games onto itch.io now, which is pretty exciting and should help for discoverability!
Remaining TODOs left before the event starts: - Need to finish up some artwork for an album release for the end of the month. - Do a big grocery run and stock up on food and snacks! :D - Laundry... - Rest well and don't get sick =X
A few additional notes:
For musicians, the skill of creating music in a really short timeframe can be invaluable during a jam such as Ludum Dare where you need to create all of your assets within the jam itself. One Hour Compo happens every Thursday and I can't recommend it more as practice for learning to optimize your workflow!
Please review the rules one more time before you start. I've seen more and more entries getting submitted that don't quite adhere to the rules, so I'd like to reiterate:
- For the compo, ALL OF YOUR CONTENT (i.e. Art, Music, Sound, etc) must be created in 48 hours.
- For the jam, you're free to use 3rd party Artwork/Music/Audio assets, or assets you previously created, but we ask that YOU MUST OPT-OUT of the respected voting categories (Graphics, Audio). You can opt-out of a voting category when you submit your game.
I repeat, if you use artwork or music that you did not personally create within the jam timeframe, OPT OUT OF THE RESPECTIVE VOTING CATEGORY. Please also GIVE CREDIT to the original artists -- you wouldn't want anybody shamelessly stealing your work and it's the same for everyone else.
Good luck to all, and see you all at the starting line!
PS: Vote no on "Everything has a price" and "No upgrades, only downgrades"! -- come on guys, we literally just did "Sacrifices must be made"...
