We're in!
Team: My wife and I
I’ve followed ludum dare for a very, very long time. First jam I payed attention to was the 2011 jam, and I’ve followed ever since. I found great inspiration in Notch’s work, his entry for one of the jams was a gnaaarly game called prelude of the chambered; a first-person dungeon crawler which I instantly fell in love with. Anyways, me and my WIFE decided to enter this jam AND WHAT DA HECK WE’LL SEE HOW IT GOES.
I’ve been studying game dev and the disciplines involved for years, proficient in a few different programming languages (C, C++, Java), 3D and 2D game art, unreal engine, music production, and general game design (level design, gameplay design, etc.) I spent a long while learning 3D, and because of that I’ve become a bit rusty in the programming area, and I’m kind of an inconsistent 2D artist. My beautiful wife, however, is excellent in that area and went to art school for a few years, and she’s also an amazing singer and pianist, so that’s covered.
Schedule: 72 hours to complete the game 8 – 6 hours of sleep 1 – 3 hours rest each day Around 40 hours to complete game
As a general guideline, this is how we’ll distribute our time:
Music – 3 Graphics – 6 Framework – 10 Gameplay – 20 Polish – 4
My wife's time will be 100% art and music
Software: Bit of a software situation, main workstation in Florida and I'm in Canada, don’t have designer, fl studio, or photoshop set up Engine: Unreal Engine 4 Graphics: Photoshop, Blender, maybe Substance Designer Sound effects: Classic BFXR Music: FL Studio or just recorded guitar
Game plan: Going to try to get some style in the graphics and music though won’t spend too much time there myself, going to focus mostly on gameplay, getting the game to a playable and well-rounded state, and actually achieving the design goals No idea what we’re making yet, guess we’ll see what the theme brings us!
