Ludum Dare Again. [Maybe a Prototype]

Hey guys, Danidre here

I've been working on my own JavaScript Game Engine for the past 7 months, of which, the last 3 have been about documenting the code. However, due to starting university, development temporarily halted.

Until I realized another game jam was approaching!

The goal has always been to use game jams to test my engine's limits and further develop it, with the hopes of getting it ready to port all my old Flash Games before 2020 ends.

So far, I've developed 2 games with advancing versions of the engine:

Since then I've revamped a lot of the spaghetti code and remade some APIs, for more efficient coding.

As usual, the plan is to create a game during the Sunday and Monday's 48 hours of the jam, since my Saturdays are off.

But with the addition of university and assignments, maybe I may only use 28 out of those hours.

As such, I may only be able to create a prototype of a game, rather than a full playable game.

So my goals are to be:

  • simple
  • small scoped
  • polished.

As well as show my university colleagues that I made a cool little thing.

Collaboration

This time, I have no idea if I want to "openly" ask to collaborate with an artist or sound composer, or if I may simply use squares and pixels, and bit tunes myself (given how unplanned the entire process will be.)

So, I'm in...

...but just for participation's sake.

The themes this year are really...not to my liking. But a game has to be made regardless so...

Let's see how this goes.
