LD50 Let's Do This!

After about four minutes of deliberation, I have decided to put off the hike I had planned for this weekend in order to participate in the 50th Ludum Dare.

As usual, I will be doing the Jam for this one. Unlike previous jams, though, I am decidedly going to make a 2D game this time, to try and keep things as simple and completable as possible.

Although I've come to loathe Unity as a development platform, there is nothing else that I am familiar enough with to be confident about making an entire game in a weekend, so I'm going to be sticking with Unity for this jam. I should probably learn GameMaker at some point, but that's definitely not going to happen between now and tomorrow evening with all the work/personal stuff I need to take care of before the jam starts. So, Unity it is.

I'm looking into using some pre-created graphics and audio, so that I can focus on the design and gameplay of the game. If a good sprite artist and/or sound designer/musician happens along, though, I would be open to teaming up.
