Thanks for playing

Most of all I want to say thank you to everyone who has played my game and especially to those of you who have given me feedback. Also I wanted to give a bit of background.

The story of Escape from Nowhere

This was the first time I took part in Ludum Dare since 2015 and my third time in total (the first time was in 2012). Given how positive the experience was I hope to return next time.

Having not touched game development since I started university in 2017 I wasn't very well prepared to make a game in a short period of time and it wasn't made easier by the fact that I spent the first day on a miserable idea. I also started this Ludum Dare with the intention of using PhaserJS (which I had used a few times before) only to change to Godot when I saw all the posts of people trying it out for the first time.

With the first day wasted I gave up all hopes of finishing a game this Ludum Dare and instead decided to take some time practicing sprite drawing, which I also had no experience with. As such, I started working on a car sprite and was so delighted to see how well it turned out that I couldn't resist to have another go at finishing a game.

Due to the above I didn't finish on time for the jam or the compo (which had been my initial plan) and instead had to go with the extra format.

Final words

Since Escape from Nowhere is now an extra game there's nothing stopping me from adding more stuff as some people have pointed out, unfortunately I won't have the time to do that as I'm currently writing my master's thesis.

In case you haven't tried the game yet I'd encourage you to do so and in case you want a challenge I'd encourage you to try and beat the current world record of 388 points.

Anyways, thanks for a fantastic Ludum Dare and see you all next time (and hopefully I will finish on time for the jam or the compo then).
