Speechless…

I’ve had nothing but bad luck this weekend, and it just hit rock bottom. I managed to submit my entry the other day on time and I thought I was good to go after that. Today I realize there is a small bug that prevents my game from being playable. No problem, I’ll just wait until I get back from work and fix it. So I fix the bug and somehow I manage to undo all of my latest changes I made to my files so what I have left of my project is in an unplayable state and it has already been submitted. And I thought everything was going so well too. I’m starting to second guess joining again next year, now. This is just ridiculous.

Just submit the fix as an extra version (like with a port)… Half the people will be asleep rather than rating for the first couple of days anyway.

Just because one Ludum Dare goes bad doesn’t mean you should consider not doing other ones. Everyone has bad days and the challenge is overcoming them. I hope your next Ludum Dare goes better for you.

Well thanks guys. But its just that I tried to do something so simple, yet managed to ruin my entire project, to the point where I don’t think I’ll be able to recover it in time. I am using Git for source control, but am more accustomed and familiar with SVN, but that has only slowed me down a tiny bit, not caused any problems. I probably will join next year because that was the frustration talking when I said I wasn’t going to, but we’ll see. Overall this has been a fun experience, so don’t get me wrong. I’m just mad at myself for ruining the end product.

There’s not really an “in time” here, you can make vital fixes after the deadline. I’m really sorry to hear that you ran into trouble though, I hope it goes better for you next time.
