My First Ludum Dare

Let’s see here. The theme is Connected Worlds. I’m going to admit that I’ve got plans tomorrow, and I haven’t gotten much done tonight. I’m likely going to try to go with the Jam variant of Ludum Dare, especially since I don’t have too much in the way of graphics skills.

The first thoughts that came to my mind for Connected Worlds was a game about the connection between your work life and your home life, and how one affects the other.  Contact, a Grasshopper Manufacture game for the DS, also comes to mind. I could explore the connection between the real world and your actions as they affect video games. Lastly, and this is really goofy, I could go full literal and have two planets connected by a chain.

My real work will probably begin sometime tomorrow evening, though I really should settle on an expression of the theme and an actual play concept by then.

I’ll probably rule out the first one. I don’t have the skill to pull off much in the way of graphical fidelity. The second one, I’m pretty interested in, though it’s also really abstract. The third is something I’m interested in as well, but I’d need to learn a lot about hinge joints and/or physics. If I don’t come up with a solid reason to go with 1 or 3, I’m going to default to 2 tomorrow.
