Still with no name, day 2 of the roguelike!
We’re two days into the Jam now, and I felt it was time for another bunch of screenshots. Most of the changes today have been under the hood, tidying up a lot of the more horrible aspects of the code and fixing loads of memory issues. We’re now in a state where we can easily add things to the game, and that’s what we’ve started working on now. We should be able to get something fun out over this day.

The shadows of what once were
Firstly, I implemented a memory of what you’d seen before. Sadly, this is blue rather than dark grey if your terminal doesn’t support 256 colours. But blue isn’t so bad.

Lanterns are good
Then I added light sources. The player starts with a lantern, but unless you equip it, it does nothing.

Status area, random damage, and more enemies!
And here are a couple of extra niceties I’ve worked on recently: there’s a little status box telling you what’s been going on, we have a new enemy, and attacking is a bit more random. Now we can get on with adding more mobs and items, and hopefully have something fun.
