Noon, Day #1: 33 Hours Remaining
I’m much more optimistic about the competition now than I was last night. Here’s the rundown on what happened after my last post:
I took a deep breath, then lied down for a short nap.
Then I played with Spot, the resident cat.
About 2 hours went by, then I decided it was time to get serious: I downloaded Flixel, looked up a few tutorials, and started working through them. I now have a blank black field on which my Intrepid Illithid character can walk – and walk he does! It’s not much in the grand scheme of the competition, but now that I’ve broken the code barrier (turns out ActionScript is something between Java and C++, both of which I know) I really feel like the project is going somewhere. Where that is exactly remains to be seen.
Anywho, here’s the sprite sheet for my main character: The Illithid.
more on this guy in my next post.
