Final Decided on a direction
I’ve worked a few hours on various games this morning, it’s around 4pm now and there’s other stuff I’ve had to do unfortunately. Still quite optimistic about making a game, it might actually be fun this time.
I carried on with bank robbery idea until I came to the realisation I’d need A* and maybe a navmesh and I wasn’t setup to quickly add those things. I briefly considered and started on the idea of doing the bank robbery as side on final fantasy style battle but then came up with something the fit my resources better.
I think this is where I decided to give up on a general nav mesh, porting this old C# to Lua didn’t work first time and I sensed a time-sink.
I had the start of nav mesh on screen and selectable hired goons with cards that where going to display some stats. But I realised I wasn’t going to get to a minimum playable game until I put in a lot more work and I couldn’t afford to wait that long.
The current game is minimally playable now and I’ve stopped there to handle some non-Ludum dare stuff and hopefully and I’ll get back into it tonight. I’m going to concentrate on graphics tomorrow! I think at this point it’s a little hard to guess how it’ll play (though you might be able to guess), I’m going to leave it a mystery for now.
