Evolution: A Parallel Narrative (Post Mortem)
Hello, and welcome everyone to Ali Sajid Imami’s twisted mind.
This ludum dare was my first one. And I can say that it was one of the times I had the most fun while coding.
I had decided that I’d be making a text adventure beforehand for two reasons:
- My drawing sucks. and,
- My drawing REALLY sucks.
What I had as a result was this:

The starting screen of the game
I decided on using undum as the library to develop my game. Th reasons being:
- I had developed in it before.
- It is cross Platform, as it’s just HTML5/JS
My over all experience was good. I spent a lot of time sleeping and planning. And In the last run, I spent 18 hours in front of the computer screen non-stop.
My initial plan was to give the player ten worlds to explore, on his own, and in the order s/he liked. After having trouble getting the loop of portal room working, I split the worlds into pairs, and gave the player a choice.
I also decided to add a morality system at this point, so that the player gets a different ending.
As far as the theme is concerned, evolution was not my favorite. Parallel Worlds, that lost by 3 votes however, was. So I kinda mixed them both into one game.
While writing the actual content, I ran into the difficulty of not having enough time. Which was why I had to cut the descriptions and choices from 4 worlds. I am writing them now, and hopefully, In release 2.0, they will be available.
That’s all folks.
Play my game, and have fun.
And to all the ludum darers, Good Luck!
