Yet another n00b, that might try to learn löve along the way
I was expecting a friend to do the “jam” with, but he wasn’t available in the end. So I shall subscribe to the “compo”/classic challenge.
I usually uses C++11 with SDL, but I want to use something more quick to write for what I believe is a prototyping challenge. I believe I’ll try to use löve, unless I have a visual novel idea, in which case I’ll learn ren’py). If I use löve I’ll have no starting base. If I get too afraid, I’ll switch to python and something I know, like pygobject and I’ll get some code snippets to reuse. I hope I’ll manage to distribute python/lua softwares easily.
My biggest fear I that I suck so much at sound (I even have no microphone), that it is very likely I’ll end up with a soundless game.
So my planned tools are
– Löve and lua or or python and ren’py or python and pygobject,
– Inkscape, Gimp, Krita, MyPaint, a pencil, a pen, a brush (not all might be needed),
– Box2D if needed,
– Jesse Schell’s book on game design.
This is my first LD I hope I’ll enjoy it !
