Happy Little Flower – Published!

Somehow, I managed to get this game finished for the Jam. “Happy Little Flower” is a weird little story-based game where you have to grow a flower by injecting it with a strange mutagen. You can do this by pressing the green button… or was it the red button?

Anyway, I had a lot of fun making it. You can check it out here: Click me!

I hope everyone had fun! I can’t wait to play some LD games tomorrow 😀

Glutton – my new game

Screen Shot 2015-12-14 at 8.15.23 PM

Glutton is my new game for this years jam, please vote and comment, feel free to give constructive criticism!

My First LD

I finished it just in time! It’s still got some bugs and I wanted to add much more content, but it’s my first time and it works. XD

Yay for a finished project! I’ll do some fixes post-jam after I get some rest.

Fish Generations

Eat to grow to adulthood as a fish, then find a mate. Avoid nets. Make it to the next generation, and pass better genetic traits.

Dig Runner is finished!

No sound but I’m happy with how it turned out! Play Dig Runner here!

LD34

We posted our game ! It’s called URBO

Basically it’s a minimalist city builder where you only get to choose between two options every once in a while and watch your districts grow, the rest of the time.

We were aiming for sort of a zen experience.

Check it out here !

Builders are usually complex games that require lots of tweaking but we love them so much that we could hardly resist trying to make one (again).

Hope you like it 😉 !!!

Actually submitted something!

I was totally lazy all weekend and didn’t manage to come up with a solid idea, I made about four different prototypes but didn’t feel motivated for some reason. Maybe it was the confusion of having two themes heheh.

Anyway, instead of not submitting anything I waited until the very end of the jam and mashed together a tiny multiplayer game about buttons within just over an hour. The last game I submitted was about a button as well, next time I think I need to just avoid buttons altogether.

My game works (I think), and I’m glad that I managed to submit something in the end :)

Tanya Titor and the Time Twister – Play it here!

Tanya Titor and the Time Twister is a game about a girl trapped in a “time twister,” a swirling vortex in which time flows at the whim of Chronohotep, the Egyptian God of time. Chronohotep’s minions will sap Tanya’s life force, causing her to grow old, and eventually die, but magical hourglasses turn back the clock and restore her youth, so collect them when you can! Only you can help Tanya fight back and escape from the Time Twister!

We hope you like it, and thank you for playing! Looking forward to trying everyone’s submissions. But first… SLEEP!

Lumberjack vs. Ancient Druid’s Cybertree Released

screen_3

The epic saga of ambiguously hipsterish lumberjack protecting humanity from the ominous threat of space druids or something, while one-handedly swinging his trusty axe and delivering cringeworthy wood-related puns one after another, is finished! And so am I. Good thing I still have 3 hours of sleep before going to work! Anyway, point is – you can play it now! Yay!

Play here. Play. Play now!

So… yep. Enjoy and don’t hesitate to give us your feedback!

I’ll probably write some more detailed post mortem tomorrow, when I stop seeing in slow-motion.

LD34 Finally done !

Here it is, finally ! I was not sure if I was going to make it, I rewrote the minigame a few hours ago.

I wanted to do so much more !

So, if you haven’t played it yet, the tutorial level of Born by Light is available here : Ludum entry 34

#gallery-1 { margin: auto; } #gallery-1 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-1 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-1 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */

Second Ludum Dare has been rough! Wanted to do at least 5 levels, but due to personal stuffs cutting into production + some problems to solve with a plugin, I only managed to make the tutorial level. Some elements are also missing (like sounds, music and dialogues) : if you have played it, you may have heard of a secret room :) Well, this secret room is supposed to contain more lore on the past of the main character and is supposed to give him a boost in vitality (by making him grow in size as he gets closer to the truth about his past), but for now, there’s nothing. Though I’m planning to add more secret rooms in the future, those secrets are very important to find in order to unlock the “true” ending. Please be patient until the next updates 😉

So, for now, although the first tutorial level has been added, I will give myself 2 weeks to complete the game, so until then, please vote and give feedback on what you would want to see in futures levels 😉

Happy Ludum Dare to all and I wish everyone to learn from this great experience !

Finally finished!

After 3 long days we have finally got a working and finished (for now) game!
This LD was a great experience as we got to try out new skills such as voice acting and creating sound effects. Personally, I also feel  I’ve made what is definitely one of my most visually favourite games that I’ve worked on.
We’re planning to keep working on the game to get it to a more finished and polished state after the competition ends too!
Stage

Munchy Munchers done!

Yay!

So that was it, my very first game jam.
Pretty happy with the result and the quick iterations I was able to make on this game/idea. Initially it was mostly based on luck, and afterwards I was able to turn it into something that didn’t bore me to tears and actually involved some skill other than waiting for the right item to appear.

I enjoyed the experience so much that I don’t think I’ll stop working on this game right now. So any kind of feedback is welcome :)

Impulse

Hello everyone! Despite our general laziness (and my depression, hooray) we at Nega Drive have managed to plop out a game for LD34. A game we called Impulse. So here is a quick post to say it exists and is done.

screenshot2

It was designed for the Two Button Controls theme. It’s an endless runner thing where you move your ship left and right to avoid obstacles, while you get continuously faster. The map is randomly pieced together out of sections as you go. It’s very clever and everything. Go play it!

Cutting it close

Go On - cover

Well, I didn’t get to spend as much time on this as I would’ve liked, but I think it turned out ok!

Check out the game

UNBalanced Karma: A Storytelling Game of Personal Growing & Unrevealed Consequences

UNBALANCED KARMA is a Interactive Storytelling Game which has as a main character a Young Gipsy Woman that was born and raised in Brazil, under the Colonial ruling of Portugal, in the 19th century, a little bit before the country becomes independent. She is strong, independent, a fortune teller and part of the romani traditions and culture. Many historical arquetypes are present in the game (the tax collector, the merchant, the wealthy noble man, the black man and woman) and it has a deep relation to the African-american religions, specially the Candomble, which is a brazilian interpretation of the Yoruba beliefs in the Orishas.

The game relates to the theme of Growing – as the character takes actions and uses her skills to foretell the future, so she makes choices that make her Karma grow, and has to deal with the consequences of it.

It has a profund meaning related to inner growing and self-awareness. Also, it presents many aspects and assets of the brazilian culture, history, society and manners. This is due the fact that the team intended to put elements of edutainment in its conception and development.

Along with the Game, we have produced also a Transmedia Project, called UnBalanced Project – which also has (and shall be developed soon) a Board Game, a Card Game, an Infographic and an E-Book with the continuation of the Game’s Narrative.

BUILD TOWN

If we had an extra 24 hours, we would have had it perfect downpat!

We also may have gone over board and complicated it a tad much, but it turned out great with the time allocated!

Growing in more ways than one, Build Town is a great way to let loose and be the God for once. Grow your population of Beings and keep them alive by increasing their resources (food, wood) and explore the land.

Hope you all enjoy, as we did creating it.

Submitted my first LDJam game – ‘All Ways Down’

TitleScreen

Finally finished submitting my entry ‘All Ways Down’. You can check it out here

It was a bit of a rush to submit in the end, I thought I gave myself plenty of time, I finished making the game about 2 and a bit hours before the submission period started. However, I ran into a couple of issues with the unity web player sizing. Thankfully I think I got it all sorted :-)

Level15

Anyhow, the game.

I decided to try and tackle both the themes with my entry, with the game making use of just two button input, with elements of growing as well.

Level16

All Ways Down is a puzzle game where you must collect growth pellets in order to increase the size of the ball, which is needed to push a switch to progress to the next level. As the game progresses levels have more pellets(5 is the max), which in turn makes the ball harder to control. The ball is controlled by the player rotating the level either clockwise or anticlockwise, and then letting the always downward force of gravity do the rest, though some skill may be required :-p

The game has a total of 20 levels, I would have liked to have made more but unfortunate I ran out of time in the end.  In any case I had a lot of fun making it, and I learnt a few new things along the way.

All Ways Down can be played either on its entry page(best played full screen) or over on itch.io(link on entry page). It’s also available to download, though I haven’t had a chance to really test those builds yet.

Now for the voting… actually, I think now is time for sleep, it’s been a long weekend  😀

Best of luck everyone.

Of all our games, this one was made quicker than any other one, thanks a bunch LD! That was proof of both skill and stamina. For the last 8 hours or so both Yakov ( the artist ) and me worked harder and harder every hour, meanwhile Nikita tested new builds, cause his part – the gameplay music theme – was done 4 hours before submission phase end.

6:00 in the morning here, I guess I’ll go for a walk and then hit the hay. I’m still amazed we finished on schedule, it’s the coolest thing that happened to us for quite some time.

Once again, thanks LD, we’ll be back.

Hi guys,

I made it through my second ludum dare. I didn’t have as much free time and wanted to try the cocos2d-x for the development. It was a great learning experience however i had to skip sound and graphics due to battling with framework :-)

My entry is about two button control theme. Controlling the rotation of the battlestation player has to defeat as many of incomming enemies as possible.

Because I was working on the macbook so I was able only to compile the os/x version. During this week i will try to compile the version for windows and android.

Oh man that was close! I kept running into problem after problem, even after submitting my game, but it’s finally done. I regret I couldn’t implement more of the features I’d planned, but I suppose my scope was too large to begin with. Lesson learned. I’ve learned a lot in fact. I understand now why the Ludum Dare is such a great challenge and experience.

While it may not be as good as I wanted it to be, I’m still proud of it. I’d be truly grateful if you’d check out my game and leave me some feedback. I will meanwhile be trying to look at, play and comment on as many games as possible. Thank you for reading, and if you play, thanks for that too!

POSTED THIS FROM OUR MAIN ACCOUNT ALREADY!
So we made 2 games this year!

So we decided that since we were starting LD34 this year with some pre-existing code…Forever Humble PDX is going to attempt to make 2 games.
Project management is one of my specialties, so I’ve split our guys up into two teams, Tonal Recall Games & Skinny Jean Death Studios. My son is programming on both projects (he’s 14, this is his 4th LD)….as if just getting one working wasn’t going to be hard enough.
We chose to go with to work with both themes, however there really wasn’t any specifics to 2 Button Controls. We’ve seen some people are making games that utilize both buttons on the mouse, but still incorporate mouse movement as well, so we are taking the aporoach that the d-pad doesn’t count.
Both of our projects will be made for use with gamepad only.
One of them is being designed with NES controller design…so it will function with d-pad and two buttons. The other is keeping to xbox/ps controller design….using only the analog sticks to control.
The artists are hard at work, the programmers are kicking ass….I’m heading off to the studio to get some music done.

I split my guys up into 2 teams and off we went!

I want to play YOUR games!

lambomang plays ludum dare

Hey there you awesome Ludum Darers! It’s your friendly neighborhood lambomang here! I’m starting a Let’s Play Ludum Dare series which will be beginning later this week, and I need YOUR games to play!

I will be doing a series where’ll I’ll play 5 Ludum Dare games I think are pretty cool every episode. Out of those 5 I will pick my favourite, and then at the end of the series I’ll pick my overall fav out of those. The winner will win the only slightly prestigious ‘We need a better name for this title’ Title ‘You’re a winner Harry!’

award
And then once the LD results have been released I’ll do a follow up episode where’ll compare how well my favourites ranked, and maybe play some other high ranked games I didn’t play.

If you want to see your game played as part of this series, just send me a link in this super dooper handy dandy form what I cooked up last night: http://goo.gl/forms/p8H1DxjneI
Just make sure to send me the link to your game on Ludum Dare, not where you’re hosting it. That way I can direct people back to your page to vote for your game!

Anyway, all the fun and action will be happening over at my channel at https://youtube.com/c/lambomang/
Subscribe to that if you want to be kept up to date on all the Ludum Dare shenanigans!

we are proud to present you our entry, BloatBlaster!

cover

We literally submitted AT the deadline and dead is how i feel. Now it time for YOU to have fun with our little game. We are definatly proud of what we could pull of in these three days.

After we decided to go for the “Growing” Theme and nailed down the basic gameplay-concept, we wanted to make it as jucy as possible. So in the end we spended a lot of times on the presentation and tweaked it to the very deadline!

We really hope you give it a try and leave us a comment/rating! And we are very happy that it´s done and we can spend the next two weeks playing all your crazy games. Ludum Dare is just Ace!

Cheers and good Night

The Arrival – Games

Wow…I actually submitted my game

My first game jam where I managed to get past writer’s block and submit, right on!! Not nearly the game I planned as I removed a lot of content in the end but it’s submitted. My goal was just to finish, no matter how bad the outcome. Now that this hurdle has been crossed, next jam I can shoot for more polish.

My target was to create a text adventure where the hero has to save the princess but each room only has two doors so making good decisions is critical. Started with a large idea for the game map with lots of rooms with even more twists and turns. First lesson: don’t think so big with a 72 hour window. In the end, I dropped a lot of content so the game is 1/5th of what I wanted to do but it is indeed finished.

That was really, really fun.

Spacelot

Spacelot is our first entry to ludumdare : ) We haven’t finished everything by time. It’s more technical demo than finished game.

The plot :
The Earth was destroyed by the *EVIL* robots from the space. You travel on the unfinished cruiser and searching place for your new home. Inspired by Battlestar Galactica and star control.

Hope Everyone Had A Great Jam!

Iai Strike is out now!

start

Here’s our game! It’s called Iai Strike. Our team is composed of five devs:
– Andrea Ishizawa, the 2D/3D artist
– Caio Contó, the 2D/3D artist
– Renato “Xel” de Paula, the jack of all trades and game designer
– Tiago Higa, the 3D artist
– Victor Lucki, the programmer

This is my third LD game. This time I wanted to do a 3D game. I started the project alone and some friends of mine joined the production later. Like always, we had problems with the time – but I believe this is my best LD game so far. I hope you guys like the game! The inspiration for the game was the Black Trike minigame from Black Rocker Shooter for PSP.

Play and vote!

Tormented Dungeon

Hey there ladies and gentlemen! I’m back for my 4th LD! This time we have….

Tormented Dungeon!

Title

A 2 button game about exploring a labyrinth and defeating all the enemies.

Here’s a link to the game if you wish to play it

I’ll be doing a Post-Mortem later this week when I have time, right now its time to sleep I think.

ALSO HEADS UP: if you comment, come back in 24 hours, I respond to all comments on my entry! If you want a response sooner, hit me up on Twitter @SnowdramaGames I try to get to everyone!

Didn’t finish in time

But at least I made something semi-working. Kind of sort of.  Needs more rooms, enemies that aren’t just boxes, etc.

I aimed for both Two Button (+mouse) Controls and Growing.

Star Reach is here

Screen Shot 2015-12-15 at 11.27.12 AM

Try out the game =)

Hi all, “Star Reach” is a 3D Atmospheric Creation Puzzle Game.

The  goal of the player is to build up your structure to reach the Star(s) in the game.

Players can choose to create simple zen structures or create awesome elaborate structures in the game.

Barely made it

Three days of maximum productivity.

Submitted the game about 10 minutes before the deadline, and without an icon, because i had no time. I hope it’s not a big deal.

Anyways, Abyssal Zone is a puzzle game much like Sokoban, but not divided into levels. All puzzles are in the same map. Interesting things can happen.

Collect all pearls for a bonus.

Play it: Abyssal Zone

Build overnight failed and so I missed the deadline :(

My brother-in-law’s birthday went a bit long so I missed the Compo deadline then my packing failed before work. Ugh, bad luck really conspired against me here. Oh well…

Download here

Made this in UE4 as an experiment to get a mechanic working to combine with my LD30 entry (which was done in UDK) to make a first person puzzle game.

Use the mouse to look, WASD to move and Shift to Run. Q and E are the two buttons (the theme) on each light. Your goal is to turn on all the lights but each light toggles nearby lights. Additionally, each light has 2 colors. If you play it I’d appreciate feedback about how long it took you to solve all the puzzles or how long until you quit. Also, leave a link to your LD34 game. Thanks.

Don’t you hate it when that happens >_<

Crazy weekend, but my VR game is done!

This weekend was probably the best game jam I’ve ever had. Just got into a flow that I didn’t break out of until the deadline. The result is pretty great too:

A VR game about using transforms to move around! Also playable without VR for all you poor monitor folks out there 😉

Wild ride, crappy ending

Albeit with a rougher, scaled down version when compared too our goals, we were done right on the 9PM (3 PM for me). But we couldn’t get the Unreal project to package up. There is the source of course, but uploading it took so long that we missed the deadline. As a result the entry is sort of empty. I’m not sure what to do next about that.

I’ve been trying various things to get the Unreal packaging process to work, so there is hope yet! But I don’t know what to do about the incomplete entry.

Hillary vs Donald – America’s Greates Battle

My LD entry is finished!

In Hillary vs Donald – America’s Greates Battle you play as one of these “famous” candidates to the presidency of the United States.
Make speeches and create ads to grow your support base. And maybe you are soon to be called Mr./Mrs. President.

You can play and rate the game here.

Now, OS/X and Linux builds are online too. (A web version will follow soon.)

Hope you had as much fun as I had and made some awesome things, too.

What a great time

This is my first Ludem Dare experience and I have to say that I am already planning to participate in the next ten.  I’ll admit that my entry is pretty shallow compared to the majority of other entries that I have reviewed but I have learned more from the last 48 hours than I could have any other way.

Thanks for letting me be a part of this.

Shameless plug for my entry:

Introducing BELLOWS!

It is done!!!

sshotgif

BELLOWS is a fast-paced, procedurally-generated action game about escaping the city in a rather…unconventional manner. Use your trusty bellows to avoid crows, rats, and bats on your way to the top, and collect bubbles to make sure you never run out of air.

We submitted Bellows earlier today with about 2 hours to spare!

Grahm Nesbitt did the music and sounds and some of the game design, I did the other part of the game design, as well as the coding and art stuff.

We think it’s super cool and worth checking out! Play/rate it here

Hrothvitnir finished on time!?

I must admit, on Friday evening I really didn’t think we’d get this done in time — I confused the requirements in terms of content usage with those for the compo, which left us generating all our own content. (I didn’t find out until about an hour before submission that I was mistaken on that, whoops.)  With this being the last week before finals partnered with our relatively green team and ambitious idea, I was feeling pretty apprehensive.

Evidently I need to have more faith!

A successful prototype arose from this weekend, and a determination to take the project past this stage.  With some input from you guys we’re planning to expand and make it more fun to play.

Our team is proud to present Hrothvitnir; we hope you enjoy the game and a well deserved rest after the mad dash this weekend has been.

Overall, super fun ludum dare! I didn’t take too many responsibilities (my total contribution: story brainstorming, writing first draft of script, audio code) but thanks to spotco and kelsey for the great experience! And I love our finished game!

Hey guys, Bashar Saada the programmer of Fluffy Horde here
So we’ve been awake since 4 am yesterday, 3 red bulls, 2 coffees, 3 cups of tea later. Story mode… see some of the amazing art of #Tinystuffz, and Will bonds amazing Voice acting,
Its a shame that a ton of assets were unused :/ I think overall, Ernani (The game designer) was frankly too good for his own good, he got us too many epic people to give us amazing assets for my tired brain to handle programming into the game in this limited amount of time :(
Anyways still turned out alright imo, but a lot of the story assets are missing, too many for me to be able sleep easy at night (Might be the caffeine :S). If I find time, maybe some day soon i’ll get to add all of the missing assets and upload it somewhere, because it is a shame :/

Hey Ludum Dare, it’s been a while.

Note: If you wanna follow my future progress with noa noa or any of my other projects, follow me on twitter: @tonycoculuzzi

So it’s been a while since I actually participated in Ludum Dare, but I’m so happy I ended up participating this time. So here’s the story:

A few weeks ago, I was walking with a few friends, and the topic of old-school virtual pets came up. At the time, I felt a serious need to make one of my own, but I didn’t have much time. I decided that I might hold onto the idea for LD34.

The night before LD34 came around, and the last round of voting was open, and so I decided to vote. I figured I’d vote, with this idea in mind, and I’d participate if any of my votes were chosen.

The next day, I wake up to see the results. To my surprise, the only two themes I voted yes on ended up tying for first place.  So I figured it was a sign.

I kinda dropped everything and started working right away. Originally I intended to submit for the compo, but by chance ended up teaming up with @isyourguy, who did a fantastic job with the audio. Knowing that I was now not working solo, I decided to shoot for the 72h jam submissions instead.

I think it turned out super well! I was planning on having a lot more content (note the faded icons everywhere when you play) but I think the game in it’s current state really stands out! I’m planning on working on it more in the future. I’m really happy with how it turned out, and I have big plans for the future of noa noa.

Anyways, check it out if you’re so inclined!

Hardware troubles

I had some odd issues with cpu usage that I had to figure out, I’d like to say that was the reason why I couldn’t finish my entry in time but really it’s because I left most of the work to the last minute, a shame since I quite liked the theme of this one.

Shameless plug!

This is the fourth time we’ve participated in the game jam, and for two programmers with limited free time and no artistic merit, I can honestly say that I think we get better every time. Ludum Dare 34 introduced us to Tiled and EasyStar, and gave us the opportunity to use ES2015 with Phaser. I’m not going to say it’s the best game ever, but we’re spending less time on the boilerplate and more time on the interesting stuff, which is a coup in my eyes.

“Goblinheart” is an 8-bit inspired zelda-style dungeon crawler with a twist: Instead of a sword, your goblin hero is equipped with the POWER OF LOVE! Persuade enemies to join you and fight for your honor as you make your way through a labyrinthine dungeon for no apparent reason. That’s right, we didn’t quite get to the point of having an end game, but it was an awesome journey!

Booting errors fixed!

Some users pointed out the game was crashing on startup because of library dependencies. I fixed those errors and added a proper icon.

Thanks for letting me know about this problem.

Growing Diseases

I used the the theme “Growing” by showing the growing diseases inside a human which is cause by smoking.

You play as the immune system of the body and your job is to protect the internal organs , you have a gun that shoots white blood cells and it heals the infected body parts.

This was my first Ludum Dare and second jam ever that i’ve participated in ,  so go easy on me :).

Controls :-
Use your mouse pointer to point the gun in a direction
Left mouse button to shoot
Space to jump

A lot of Fun

Hey guys,  seeing as this was my first Ludum Dare it was a fun experience.  I was able to finish a game in the compo, and actually enjoyed the theme even though it thought I wouldn’t at first.  I did learn a few things in the process, especially the importance of looking over my games zip file before I submit it.  I accidentally disabled the tutorial and sound.  In any case, it was a great time.  I have also enjoyed looking over peoples games and playing them.  It is amazing what people can do in 48 and 72 hours.  I just wanted to say congrats to everyone who submitted a game.
