LD 41 April 20–23, 2018

I'm in!

I haven't taken part since LD36.

Some will say I'm rusty, especially since I won't have much time this weekend, but I'm very absolutely 120% ready to make the BESTEST GAME OF ALL TIME AND SPACE.

Or at least make a few of you laugh and have fun.

Or, well, maybe make one guy somewhere exhale through his nose in mild amusement. That sounds more like it.

I will probably be using Unity and some other boring stuff. Check out some of my other BESTEST GAMES OF ALL TIME AND SPACE here: https://crim.itch.io/

GLHF! Can't wait to try your games!

Im in, so excited!

Hello! The last LD i did was LD 38 and i did plan to participate in LD 40 but due to sickness i couldn't, so im super excited to join this fantastic game making event!

Im a one-man army and the tools im using is Game Maker Studio, Beepbox and Bfxr!

Good luck everyone!

My Setup

As i announced some days ago i will be in and have many time. This time i want to try to make it for compo (the last times i didnt as lack of time).

As for everyone who could be interested in this will be my setup for jammin :)

This will be the tools i plan to use.

  • Game Engine: Unity 2017.3
  • Graphics: Aseprite (primaly) but maybe some things in Photoshop CS6
  • Sound: Bfxr (and Famitracker)
  • Music: Boscaceoil maybe (my music skills are not so good)
  • (Blender) -> Only if i go 3D (what i am currently not planning)

Concept will be written down as usual in a simple TXT Editor (Notepad++).

First first first time

I'm very much excited to participate in my first ludum dare game jam. I hope to submit a functioning game in time and also hope to learn a lot from it. I'll be using Unity 2017.3 for the game, Bosca Ceoil and Bfxr for music and Photoshop for art assets. Working Solo! I would like to wish 'best of luck' to everyone. Enjoy!

[Need help!] Game not showing up anywhere!

I go to the LD41 games page (https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/games), take a look at the compo, jam and unfinished sections. My game is in none of these, where is it and how can I get it in the compo section? And yes, this is my first Ludum Dare ever, I'm still a noob.

I'm in!

Oh boy, another Ludum Dare. Let's do this :D

Stuff I'll use (as always): Game Maker Studio 2 for programming, sfxr/bfxr for sounds, PyxelEdit for graphics and FL Studio for music. I also plan to stream most of the weekend, so if you want to watch me, you can do so at https://www.twitch.tv/syrapt0r.

Good luck to everyone participating. Let's have a good weekend ^^

I'm In for my 9th LD

This will be my 9th LD. Been doing every one since 33. Doing the compo and using Gamemaker Studio 2. Not sure what I'll use for sound this time.

Finally able to jam!

Have had my eye on Ludum Dare for probably over a year, and, for the first time, this weekend actually works with my schedule so I'm in! I'm using Godot as my game engine and GIMP for art. Not sure what I'm doing for music yet, and for sound I'll be using a combination of Google and a microphone.

I'm going to be working with my brother (a film student), and we're hoping to make something along the general lines of Her Story, using real videos as part of a game. I have a few ideas, but of course we'll have to wait for the theme to figure out more specifics!

I'm in (Maybe)

I've been so busy these last few weeks so Ludum Dare snuck up on me. My participation will be a last minute thing, but if the stars align you know I'm in!

Signing in for Ludum Dare 41

First time going on it and I'm very excited. I'm in for the Jam, baby.

Gonna be using: - Unity 2017.3 - Bosca Ceoil - Bfxr - Pyxel Edit/Photoshop CS8

Ludum Dare 4 D WIN '@'

I'm In!

I'm In! Can't wait to start!

This will be the first LDJam I will finally be able to participate in. Last two I was busy and couldn't participate in the Jam. This time will be different. I hope to do something for PC and Console, Mobile, or VR. Not sure though. We will see.

Good Luck!

Last year I entered LD38 with 'Fuel' and it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life - I learned a huge amount from all the feedback given and I had a great time doing it too. Almost exactly one year on and 'Fuel' has become 'oOo: Ascension' and has just today had it's final submission accepted for release on Xbox One, with a release date of late May.

I count myself incredibly lucky to have been able to create something tangible from my entry, but I wanted to come here before this weekend to show just how life-changing competing in something like this is. Whether this is your first time competing or if you're an old hand at things like this, nothing but good can come of giving it your all.

Best of luck to you all, I can't wait to see what you can do

I'm in!

It's been a long time since I submitted something for compo (it was LD32 i think) since I always forget to plan for this event. This time however I'm ready, and have planned my entire weekend for this. I just hope we get a fun theme! :)

My setup this time will be the following: - Photoshop, Pyxel edit, or Paint.NET for graphics. (Blender if I go 3D) - Cubase and EWQL for music. - Kitten for cuddles and moral support. - As for game engine I'm planning on using Unity. Although I'm currently working on a lightweight 2D library for C++ with a friend, so if I finish that before the weekend I might use it. The downside with that library is that it only supports windows at the moment. - I'll be using Sourcetree, Git and Github for VC - I'm gonna try to remember making a timelapse with chronolapse!

Best of luck to you all!

My Systems

I can't wait for the upcoming Ludum Dare. I am just jumping with excitement! This is my first time, and I am ready to fail horribly. Bring it on. I'm deciding what tools I should use, and I wanted yall's opinions. Here is what I have currently.

ENGINE: Unity (probably focusing on 2D)

GRAPHICS: Graphics Gale (not many people know this program. Its free, and can be powerful under the right conditions.)

SOUND: Bfxr

MUSIC: I don't know yet. I'm looking into Bosca Ceoil because it looks super simple. I have very little experience with making music.

I could possibly be using blender for 3D models, but I am not planning on it. 2D is much more efficient.

Any suggestions?

Team Assemble!

We have a brand new team of five people, all developers! We are using Unity, which none of us have used before. Are plan is to make some sort of music game, or find some way we can each make our own level and when we bring it all together it resembles a game. :D

I'm in

Hello! This is my first Ludum Dare, hope We will end game at time

My first real jam!

I've had my eye on joining a LD ever since I started making games as a hobby. I once did a solo challenge where a made a whole game in 48 hours to see what I could do and it was incredibly fun and rewarding. Now I'm planning on taking what I've learned since then and seeing what I can do.

Engine: Godot 3.x

I've really been getting into Godot after starting out in Unity. It's a very fun tool to work with and even though the HTML5 export functionality is sketchy in Chrome right now it's the engine I've enjoyed the most so it's what I want to stick to.

Graphics: Piskel and maybe Paint.NET

I'm no artist so I mostly stick to pixels...

Sound: bfxr or just the sound recorder on my phone

I just learned about bfxr when I was doing research for Ludum Dare so I'll probably give it a shot. Usually I just make noises into my phone and throw them into the game, haha

Music: LMMS

Music is gonna be tricky because I've never really gotten a game complete enough to have music. I've messed with LMMS a bit and I've thrown a few beats together in FLStudio a few years back. I really love making music but I'm not great at it and dont have a lot of experience. We'll see if my game even ends up with any in the end...

Good luck everyone! I'm really excited and I'm just hoping I can actually finish!

Hello #41

So we're back at it for the fifth time! I'm hopping in with a new computer at hand, so hopefully I have all the tools up and running before we're stuck in the fray. Maybe even WebGL-exporting works this time.

Team (Man In Motion):
  • @Devastus | https://twitter.com/devastus
  • @Mindhead | https://twitter.com/NikoFinsk
Tools of the trade:
  • Unity 2017.3, accompanied with some pre-made editor tools maybe
  • Reaper & buncha VSTis (audio)
  • Blender & Maya (if 3D)
  • Photoshop & PyxelEdit (if 2D)
  • SourceTree for Git stuff
  • A squeaky stress ball

I was kinda hoping to get a Linux/Godot environment up and running for this but I'll save that for a later time. Good luck everyone!
