For LD41 I made a game that lets you play through a choose your own adventure narrative using a match 3 interface and it turns out it was pretty fun writing the story for it.
(Game + source here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/candy-crush-your-own-adventure)

The really interesting thing is the story content is already pretty much separate from the game engine. Would anyone be interested in writing their own story and delivering it to people in this way?
Anyone interested is very welcome to just take the code and run with it but I'm also happy to potentially work with people on this.
I would also just love to hear if anyone gives this a try.
The main restrictions at the moment are : - Panel size : you only have so much space for each scene of your game's text to appear in - Number of choices: limited to at most 4 options (but it supports 0 - 4) - No text formatting (at the moment) - It currently doesn't render options that have been chosen before to prevent the narrative making nonsensical loops but allow for a bit of content re-use.
Features commenters have already suggested or that I was thinking of adding: - Ambient sounds for a given scene - Playing sounds when a given option is chosen - Ability to specify assets in the settings file (needed for supporting your own sounds and supporting your preferred look + feel) - Settings screen to let the player choose some options like the name / title / gender of their protagonist - Intro screen to show off a title card for the story - Setting flags that can be checked in other scenes for a more dynamic story - Translations. They'd be awful but I kind of want to see just how bad feeding the story text through google translate would be

Hey everyone!
Just to inform you that my game for LD41, System Override, has been updated. You can check all the details at https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/games/system-override.
Please, for evaluation purposes consider only the original version. The updated version has been built only for Windows and is available at https://thiagofredes.itch.io/system-override, with the _x86_post_ld suffix, to differentiate it from the original.
I intend to update it every now and then because I'm finally starting to like my game! ^^"
I have new ideas coming up and hope to implement them soon.
Hope you all have some nice play'n'rate weeks! o/

This time, we went with a choice based detective game. You step into the role of Columbo, an aging detective who needs to go around a movie monster sanctuary, gathering clues, making connections, finding a motive and accusing the killer.
Check it out here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/murder-in-the-refuge-of-retired-monsters
Coming up with the crime and its details was probably the most difficult aspect of this game, especially since we had multiple characters saying different bits of information and it was a lot more difficult to figure out when we should reveal certain clues. Distributing who says what was also challenging, as we had to make room for some worldbuilding too. Finally, we made sure the characters all have distinct personalities, so it's easier to tell them apart.
As for the refuge, we had a standard mansion-like building in mind, with multiple rooms. Dressing up these rooms was actually quite fun. Anyway, we hope you can find the killer!
Sorry, I kind of forgot to make a post to announce it, but the game's working again !
Now go kick some human ass !
Will you ever reach the top?
We appreciate any feedback you can give! Also be aware that luck, like in any card game, can be unforgiving ;)

Thanks for taking the time to read this and hopefully check out my game.
A mix between Platformer/Shooter and Puzzle Game Score to beat = 520 000

We need some more ratings to get to 20, please rate our game (hopefully good ratings too). I can rate yours too if you comment with a link to your game. Thanks!

And I've seen some truly inspiring, often bonkers games from you crazy kids. I want to live inside Ludum Dare forever. I'm making a start on the next 50 games shortly, so go ahead and drop yours in the comments. In the mean time, feel free to check out and rate my own game, Date Night - The Survival Horror Dating Sim. Had some good feedback so far and I could always use more. And yes, there is cannibalism in it. So much cannibalism.

I am very happy because yesterday Tetriform reached 20 ratings and today almost 30! Thank you very much to all of you who have rated and comented Tetriform!

Hi there! Come and try our game International Survival Soccer (a.k.a. ISS, ludum version), a mix between a classical soccer game and a stealth game. Progress to the goal without being seen by your opponents, and increase your chances to score. I you are detected...run! But beware, you have a limited number of passes..

And so i finally rested, it was my first LD, with a friend we made this Shoot'em Up Tower Defense game, well incomplete but playable: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/attack-on-mothership
I made a poor time management, and in the last day some personal issues happened, but i'm not here to make any excuses, the lack of sound and poor balance was my mistake from the very start of this as i picked the wrong Aspect Ratio. That mistake almost made us cant send the game.
But that mistake is something needed for me to learn from it. People aren't made to be perfect, mistakes need to happen.
After saying that i need to make an apology for a mistake. This one i dunno how i made it, maybe the rush or so, but again, not making any excuses, just apology. I turned one tower damage to zero, using it its just visual and waste of money. For that i'm really sorry.
-- As my first LD i felt anxious and nervous, i wanted to make something playable and publish it here. i cried a little thinking that all the work we had done till the final deadline would be "thrown to trash" by that mistake i had done, but in the end i found a way to counter and send it in time. There i cried more from the relief.
Sorry for the long text, and for any mistakes in the text, english is not my country language.

Remeber to type HELP if you get stuck somewhere!

my chosen genres for the LD41 theme were “doom clone” and “tamagotchi,” which gave me:
CACOGOTCHI~ https://bijou.itch.io/cacogotchi
a lo-fi tamagotchi demake using og DOOM textures/sprites, ren’py visual novel engine and mspaint!
designing a virtual pet was a hell of a lotta fun! i remember how frustrated i would get playing with my tamagotchi as a kid — not understanding the hidden logic behind its fickle nature and unpredictable responses — and i'm happy to say that thanks to my messy, makeshift coding, you can experience that too.
thanks for playing!
Hey everyone! I'd like to take this moment to share my reflections after participating in 2 game jams over 2 weeks. I submitted a "finished" game both times, and they were not only my first 2 jam games, but my first 2 games ever published. If you want to check them out, here they are:
https://slug-overdose.itch.io/life-is-full-of-inspiration
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/war-maker
First and foremost, above all else, I will say it has been super transformative to just publish a game, even if they are subpar jam games. Love of video games is what got me into programming when I was younger, and although I started out by making little text based games in high school, I never actually published anything. While in university, I kept experimenting with game engines as a side hobby, but my path really diverged away from game development, and I ended up getting my first job in enterprise software development. Still great, but I just didn't have the same passion for it as games. Returning to game development, this time for real, has made me realize just how wrong I was to not follow my passion, and how it will likely be years before I can make any money from games. Game development is super difficult and competitive. But it's also extremely rewarding, even as a side hobby. If you are a younger developer especially, I cannot urge you enough to take the plunge, enter a jam (any jam, doesn't have to be as big as Ludum Dare) and #FINISHIT. Following through with that commitment will get you out of the perfectionist loop of trying to make the ideal game / engine / whatever, and turn you into a finisher. It truly makes a world of difference.
With that out of the way, you might be wondering why I develop games without an engine, in Java, with JavaFX. Yeah, that's not a very common combination. So what's the deal? Well, at the risk of shocking the Java haters out there, imagine someone looking to implement their first simple 2D game from scratch, and they read a bunch of recommendations to use C++. They might start by playing around with an external library dependency, like SDL or SFML. Then they might have to refactor their code because a bunch of stuff that should be object-oriented isn't. They might eventually decide to add some kind of networking functionality, and either have to dig into platform-specific APIs, or add another external dependency. Then they might want to port their game to another platform, have trouble compiling dependencies, fix a ton of platform-specific bugs, and get it working on a single other platform, at which point they might decide to port to another. Now what if I told you there was a language and platform that had all that built in, but wasn't a game engine? That's right, Java with JavaFX provides a ton of graphics, sound, UI, networking, security, and other useful stuff, and in a completely cross-platform way on desktop. As an added bonus, it's relatively easy to port to Android. All without adding a single external dependency. And if your game is not particularly load-sensitive, you get the wonderful benefits of things like garbage collection and a more strictly OOP paradigm. Seriously, Java is super under-appreciated when it comes to game development. It may not make sense for cutting-edge AAA 3D graphics engines, but how many of us actually get that far? Many people are struggling to make their first game, and if they're a stronger programmer than artist, I honestly think JavaFX provides a good foundation so that you don't need to reinvent the low level wheel.
Now that I've made 2 games with JavaFX, I can confidently say I don't regret it. Yes, in many ways, it's harder than using a game engine. Commercial game engines today are free/cheap, and super capable. But I'm a programmer. This is what works for me. What I do regret is not reusing code from the 1st game in the 2nd. Much of the menu code ended up being nearly identical, yet I rewrote every single line from scratch, which cost me valuable time that could have been spent fixing bugs that ended up forcing me to cut core gameplay features. Seriously, if there's one thing the 2nd game taught me, it's that I need to make a point of extracting value out of each game for the next. There's just no excuse. I think that's true even when using a commercial game engine, but it's especially true when writing games from scratch.
When it comes to making games feel good, I've noticed that really nailing a single super microscopic mechanic and focusing on polish is better than trying to do everything. I have rated a ton of jam games, and it's impossible to overstate the importance of audio. This means music, voice, AND sound effects (NOT OR). All 3. No compromises. You don't have to be the industry's top audio engineer. Just record something simple with your webcam, and your players will love it. A single voiced line can make a crappy game feel thousands of times more polished. The right background music can literally make an unplayable game feel intense. I actually spent a lot of time polishing my 1st game, and it also worked quite well. It got decent reviews. For my 2nd game, I focused more on polish, but ended up cutting a ton of planned features, and the single mechanic that was left is extremely buggy. And yet it's getting better reviews overall, with people saying they had a ton of fun. Part of the reason is that I made fancier menus, did some voice over work, and used great sound assets. Players will overlook glaring flaws if they're having a blast.
Lastly, if anyone's thinking about just doing a long string of consecutive jams, I don't recommend it. Doing 2 jams in 2 weeks has really rekindled my passion for game development. But it's also been extremely hard to recover. I went into the 2nd jam really tired, lazy, and unmotivated, and only shifted into high gear because I was truly passionate about the game idea. Jams are intense experiences. If you don't pass out immediately after submission, you're doing it wrong. So give yourself adequate recovery time between jams. If you think about it, doing 1 per month would result in 12 under-developed jam games per year, which would realistically need to be developed quite a bit further to have any chance of making money. Where's the value in that? One per month might actually be fun and let you test ideas, but that's really pushing the limits of what you can get out of them, and I think you're better off spending more time developing fewer games further. I think quarterly might be the ideal frequency. Go figure.
Hey everyone, I'm looking for games to play after work! Comment on this post or play my game and comment there and I'll check yours out when I get home.

I’ve been working on post-jam improvements to my game, Typistry, and now they’re ready for action.

Version 1.1 has:
There’s also now a Mac version—both of the original entry (for scoring) and of the new one. Want to play? Go for it.
Greetings, travellers. I hope your giving of games went well. Ours turned out very nicely, and I'm very happy with it. I used to be so good at keeping a good journal, but I was a little too busy to do so this time.
Still, you can check out our Lovecraftian Kart Racer here!
Anyways, unsubtle shameless plug aside, I will be streaming entries over at my scarcely used Polyrogue_ Twitch Account, tomorrow and possibly next week Wednesday and Thursday (and maybe even a little today!) I am in BST (UTC+1).
Now, I may not get around to everyone, for which I apologise, so I'll do it on a First Come, First Served basis, but also prioritise those who are attending the stream, because I know waiting to see your game can be a little tedious.
Anyways, that's the preamble. If you want me to stream your game, go ahead and sign up here!
Hey there! I have some free time this afternoon and I'd like to spend it testing some games. Of course I'd prefer browser games because I'm lazy, but drop your link anyways!

The game is called Felocity. It's made for compo and can be played here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/felocity

Design
First of all, I wasn't super exited for this theme. I got really hung up on the incompatible part, which made me discard most of my favorite ideas since they were (in my opinion) too compatible. In the end I decided to go for an idea that I wanted to work on rather than an idea that followed the theme perfectly. This was to keep my motivation up, which I guess worked in the end. However, I spent very little time on the specifics, so my game ended up a bit confusing. I think if I only spent half an hour extra on figuring out a concrete design, the entire jam would have gone a lot smoother.
Wasting time
With risk of sounding narcissistic: I honestly think I could have had a game with double as much content (levels, enemies, weapons, tutorial, etc.) if I hadn't wasted so much time. I felt really slow the entire jam, always being slightly tired, so I ended up spending more time playing my game than working on it. I didn't really want to take a nap either, since that was a waste of time, which just made it worse. Note for the next time: nap if you are tired. Kindergarten had it right!
Planning
I planned properly for this jam, starting to write down a schedule for each part (design, programming, audio, graphics, etc.) so that I could have an overview of how I was doing. Earlier jams I have been guessing, which can lead to laziness or stress depending on if I feel like I have a lot of time, or if I feel like I have too little time. This time it kept me motivated when laziness was taking over.
Music
I really went outside of my comfort zone with this one. I usually write metal or orchestral music, but this time I went for something more... Jazzy?? I'm not so sure about the genre. And while I only made a short loop for the in-game music, I'm really happy with how that turned out. I also spent some time making some small jingles for the main menu, and the game over screen, which could be considered bad prioritizing, but it really made the game feel more complete and polished.
Art
I really pushed myself to make the art quick, and not get hung up on details. It's very easy to get stuck tweaking individual pixels in these projects, especially with pixel art, but in the end very few look at individual pixels. I also decided to use my cat, and pictures of it, as reference material for the drawing. It really helped with coloring since I'm colorblind, but doesn't really help with anatomy, since pixel art is rarely correct in that way.
Feedback
By feedback I mean input- and output feedback (I guess you could call is responsiveness). I'm really happy with how the game feels to play. While it doesn't have many features, or good design for that matter, it really feels good to shoot the gun, and it really feels powerful when you take damage. I give the credit for this to the sound effects, which also helps with making the game feel more "alive".
I don't want to make this post too long, so I'm ending here. It was really fun coming back to Ludum Dare, and I'm definitely gonna do it more often than before. I'm really impressed by some of the games I've seen so far! Good job everyone! ^^

Sup my group made a cool turn based bullethell
If you haven't seen our game yet, its pretty sick https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/timestaar-turn-based-bullet-hell
Anyway, we don't have anything to do in the way of making games so we're going to update the game and make a more polished non-gamejam version. The game-jam version is going to stay is it is, we're not gonna touch that. If you rate the game, please rate it off the original build. Even if you think it sucks :).
But we're pretty proud of the game as it is so we're gonna make it even better and incorporate a bunch of stuff we didn't have time for. We've got more settings, a story mode, a boss, etc.
If there's anything you'd really like to see- go ahead and comment, there's a very good chance it'll be in the improved version.
If you like Rhythm games you should check it out. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/elite-beat-zombygons

The jam is over and what are some lessons learned?
- Do some blog posts with playable beta-releases during the jam. Could be fun for others and for ourselves to see the progress made during the weekend.
- Doing two games added quite a lot of extra work. Maybe not the best idea for completeness, but it was fun!
- PREPARE before-hand! Setup GIT repos and download Unity and setup other tools. We spent about 5 hours completing these tasks. Time that could have been spent on coding!
All in all, this theme sure made people think outside the box and it was a very fun event! We will try to add more team members for next event, and create an even better experience.

https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/plydridie

The main goal of the game is to survive for as long as possible while doing a maximum number of points. To do that you can: take risks by bringing beers to the singer as a real roadie, or do you “emo” and just stay in the corner of the pit doing nothing. The rhythm is given by the music and the public “bounces” regularly so you can (more or less) predict when you have a chance to get hit.
We tried to combine a physic based/Rhythm game with a survival aspect (so yeah this is more or less 3 genres… or you can choose the two you prefers :p)
Link to the game : HELLFEST SIMULATOR
We decided to get a real mosh pit experience, as we all do listen to “metal music” (I put this between quotes as it is only to simplify :p) and this is something typical from this kind of scene. To do this we proposed that everything should be based on physic to create a chaotic aspect as it is on real life but it must also be based on the music. I will describe the way we did that a little later.
The rhythm system is quite simple, every music sample does have attributes that will qualify the sample: - Delay - Light Blink Rhythm - Light Move Rhythm - Light Color - Bounce Rhythm
For each rhythm, we will check if the counter is set to 0 and trigger an event. Every Entity that is not “busy” will come to solve it’s own logic (example: if the light movement finished it will move in another direction). This permits us to bring differents ambiances between each event and every behavior will be solved independently so we can extend it at will.
The music can be listened directly on soundcloud
As we just said, we wanted it to be a “structured chaos” ,so we defined 4 mains events that we called “Idle”, “Pogo”, “CirclePit”, “WallOfDeath” (and the two more with “Intro” and “Outro”).
For each one, we wanted a specific behavior and we needed to test if it worked with the ambiance we wanted. We finally decided to define them as: - “Idle”: The main verse, a little slow, the Bounce Rhythm is set to 1 - “Pogo”: The chorus, everything is faster and it bounces much more, the Bounce Rhythm is set to 0.5 - “CirclePit”: An event that will generate up to four Circle pit(s) into the “Pit area”, Bounce Rythm is set to 0.5. - “WallOfDeath”: An event creating one to four Wall of death(s), defined as a “break” into the music.

Some of the first feedback was that the main character was too slow, this was due to a performance issue based on a bug due to lightnings that we did not experienced as we were on our main development computers. Fortunately, we all own smaller Notebook so we were able to fix it pretty quickly. To fix this we just disabled half of the lights and increased a little their halo to keep the main ambiance but drastically increase the framerate on middle-end computers. (Our Original LD post is still available if you want to compare :) )
Feel free to play the game! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/wrong-bet
Wrong Bet is my game for LD41, it's a racing game with a twist: Instead of controlling the cars you control a god which is actively trying to get a team to win. The idea came into life after scrolling through Wikipedia's game genres list. The original idea was a tower-defense racing game, but quickly changed to the game that ended up being made.
About a week before the LD I started working on a little node based "engine", similar to Godot. The concept worked pretty well, and was not very hard to work with, so I ended up using the engine in the game. I must admit that I ended up changing a lot of the engine during the LD as some parts of the engine were simply not well planned. I think I'm going to actually finish writing the engine for future games. I may change the name, SilverSource does not make sense (It's inspired by GoldSource, but it's not similar in any way ;))
Well, let's get to the actual theme. The first thing I wrote was the Track, it loads the data from a color-coded image (which is horribly ugly). The track is called by the karts to see if they are inside a wall, and to find what waypoint to go to. Alongside the Track I was writing the Kart, at the starts the physics were pretty crude, but with some work they became what is now in the game, not extremely realistic but fits the arcade style of the game.
That, and making the kart sprites and the menu theme, was the first day.

The second day's priority was getting weapons planned and working. They were fairly easy to program just requiring a few hundred lines of code. Most weapons are implemented with a node and an entry in the GodAttack.h file. I also moved the kart spawning code to a more elegant system, and added some basic sounds. On the art-side-of-things, the forest track was designed and the race music was written!

This day was the most intense (as usual). The game required a lot of polish, a Main Menu and a second track (the night track). I also moved the game code to the Race file, wrote the victory and defeat themes and screens and fixed a lot of bugs related to car handling. I also added the engine sounds which worked surprisingly well! They are simply a looping sawtooth wave.
There are some weird crashes that seem to happen randomly, I really should fix these! If people enjoy the game I may polish it more (listening to the feedback!) and release a post-jam version.
Also I should look into a Linux build, I hope I don't hit a brick-wall (gcc hates my VS code!).
I'm pretty sure I'm going to use this engine for future games, just have to get some fixes and get my mind around how to implement scenes. Also I really need a GUI toolkit, manually writing GUIs is no fun.
I uploaded the music to SoundCloud. It's always cool to come across one of your old projects :)
Thanks for reading, feel free to leave your projects in the comments, looking forward to rate some games!

Is it too metal to play punk riffs?
First off, introductions. I am Anubhav Kashyap, a 14 year old game developer and this is my second Ludum Dare.
Sorry guys, I can't rate your games as I am busy with some school work right now, but if you rate my game and leave a comment, I'll surely rate your game by Sunday latest (most likely way earlier). It'd be even better if you could leave a link to your game in the comment (on the game page, not here). Alright then, see you later! :v:
Here are a few screenshots:

Hey guys and gals!
Just a quick update to let everyone know we have added Mac and Linux versions of Flight Deck to our game page! These additions, along with our webGL and PC versions, should ensure everyone has a chance to experience the awesome world of card-based air travel.
Thanks for all the support and keep the feedback coming!
Hey Guys! @pkenney @Shelvid @Iluvatar @Bruce @Tayfun @Sr-CirueloDev Bug now fixed! I hope you will take a few moments to check the game out once again and review your ratings as that would be very generous of you and helpful to us!
Also, to my friends, @bluewingtitan and @samusoidal, you can now play the game! And sorry, I'll check out your games by Sunday due to a lot of school work I missed during LD. :sob:
We are a team of two, Anubhav Kashyap (@anubhav-kashyap), a 14 year old game developer and the programmer and 3d artist of this project, and Riley (aka Horsey Games, @porcus-pie), a 17 year old game developer who acted as the music producer in this project. The programming took a lot of effort, since there was trouble with Unity and it wasn’t working properly. Our one day’s progress even got deleted. But we somehow managed to finish the game (with many features lacking), and here it is.

P.S> Just posting this again to make sure that anyone who has rated our game before the fix reviews their ratings.

I'm planning on finishing my duty and reviewing another 10 or so games for Ludum Dare. I did this one previously, for the video of such to see if you want me to review, see the video below. I will take submissions here, or during the time. If I need more games, I'll just pick them from the list.

Thank you guys very much for your amazing comments on Mojojo!
I had tons of fun making this little game and I'm glad some of it went through!

If you feel that there are not enough match3 games that praise you for every match found, have look at my "Bully squares" game. It has everything you need: a red square, a green square, a wise mentor that will help you with advice and will cheer you up in a tough moment, and, guess what, it has a blue square too.
So, come on join. And lead, an army of squares, with swords and shields. And we also have a castle there.

I'm very surprised to see the response my game got amongst some of you. Much more positive than I first anticipated. I've actually decided that I wish to keep working on the game in the future so the feedback was greatly appreciated.
I also pushed out a new Update (1.1) which fixed some bugs and balanced the game. If you wish to play the game you can find it here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/jump-and-draw
It's a Card/ Sidescroller, all your attacks are dependant on the cards you play. Variety (possibly) ensured!
Good Day!
I also made this in my freetime

As our immediate post-jam low subsided, we are finally able to present to you our fourth game jam entry: Hoverfield Park - Beat Haven

and rate your games as well 😉
LD page: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/hoverfield-park-beat-haven
It turned out as more of a proof of concept for a rpg with minigames, as playing the guitar rhythm game is the only fun thing to do as of now. But we are planning to turn this game into a full-blown rpg with multiple zones, character customization, different minigames, gaining exp, leveling up and all these kind of elements! This is why we would appreciate it, if you would let us now what you think about the game mechanics and design so far and how it performs on you mobile devices.

Regarding the theme we ended up loosly combining the ideas of a rpg with a rhythm minigame. On a music-level, we contrasted the calming ambient sound of the overworld with the guitar metal track in the rhythm game.
This marks the fourth time we participated in the ludum dare game jam and ironically this time we were "only" four people working on the game opposed to nine team members last time 😅 But more about that in our post-mortem. *One of us, Hybitous, even made a video documentary about our experience with LD40, check it out ! *

I've just started my evening stream where I'll be playing and rating more games! Get involved while it's quiet and before the queue fills up! I'm live over at https://www.twitch.tv/honestdangames
RoadRover is a shooter car game, it only took me a few minutes to fall in love, check it out, it doesn't take much time to try and give your opinion...

UPDATE 26 April 2018 // [Change Log V0.1]: - Tweaked Car handling and performance. - Fixed Some Bugs (The bug that caused the car to fly and the enemy spawner collider issue). - Updated map. - Fixed Laser Crosshair issue.
Thanks for the support and advices... Stay tuned for more updates...

We have first feedback on our game. Thank you a lot for this!

It's called StarClick! Check it out. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/starclick

So I played 10 games for now in this Ludum Dare, and I found so many good games, and I'm going to talk here about the most ones that I loved!
So this game has a pretty good unique idea : virtual pet + shoot'em up! Even if it becomes repetitive, it's still a solid and a funny entry.
Well this game, is made by the winner of the last Ludm Dare. But this one got me. The concept is really cool and unique : you play basketball using a sort of programming language. And the pixelart is for another time 😗!
Well the themes is not there but it have leaderboards and its an FPS game!
What do you think about these ones? If you think your game is good to be in another post post the link in the descriptions below!
* Try the best game ever here! XD *
A few days after the jam and I finally wrote my postmortem for Delve! It ended up quite long so I posted it on my blog instead. Please check it out here.
I really wanted to upload a proper gif for the game but my recording software makes it look like it's running too slow or too fast. Sometimes, you'll just teleport in the gif. I don't know why. This one's probably the closest to a good one albeit still terrible. * *The gif's speed is not representative of the actual game's **!

For those who have played and rated the game and gave feedback, thank you so much! Do forgive me for not rating any games yet; I'm still feeling a bit terrible from the jam. I will start rating games now.
If you haven't played yet, please do try Delve! Feedback is definitely appreciated. :)
We had a bug with the starting of the timer in some cases.
It is now fixed and we would be happy if you check it out :)

I would like to thanks everybody who played our game. It was a really fun project to make, and we're really happy that so many of you enjoyed the game.
If you haven't played the game yet, and you like pure VFX and BPM, feel free to try our game !

As you can see, we like colors and clean shapes.

Feel free to ask us any technical/artistic questions, or even to give us advices and feedback ! And you can also share your high score with us ! c:
Thanks again to everyone !
Finally got around to finishing the Web version of my game - and I'd love to hear your feedback! (Whether that's bug reports or ideas!)
Realm Guard is a card based tower defense game in which you must hold off 20 waves of attackers using a deck of towers that you can play on your turn. It's got a unique twist on the tower defense genre by having purchasable towers become cards, which can be drawn multiple times in the game - so saving up for a powerful tower can help you out repeatedly, but might cause you to have to use weaker towers in the mean time...
Can you beat all 20 waves? Find out here!

Thanks for over 100 views on itch, try my game here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/daunting-dungeon

How the Compo Went:
I recently started to learn Java in an effort to enhance my developer skills. I was previously familiar with C# and Python for all of my previous personal projects, apps, and games. Since LD41 was right around the corner I decided to use that as my fuel to learn enough Java to kickstart my knowledge.
The entire week before the Compo I was dissecting open source projects to learn how they composed their games, what libraries to use, and ways to handle the screen, etc. I found it hard to find consistent information that was transferable from tutorial to tutorial to whatever else as you had to build your base and everyone did it differently.
Somehow I managed to come up with a game for the theme which was to simulate the opening of loot boxes. So a simulation game. I then added how to get currency to open said boxes by adding in the second genre of a clicker game. The first day was entirely learning how to setup the screen, the buttons, and managing the data. The second day was fighting with how the images are displayed, adding effects, music, sound, and drawing the images used.
I'm not proud of the game itself, but I am proud that I made something okay with next to no Java experience by myself in 48 hours.
Is it allowed to make "balance-changes" to your game? I agree with the most comments on my game that say it is too easy - so i changed two variables to make the game more challanging. Can i put up a secondary link to the updated version or is it against the rules (as it isn't a bug fix)?
Hey guys and girls, are you looking for a game that is different, unique and fun? You have come to the right place. Taste the game and let us know what you think.

This was supposed to be the biggest night of your life.
After years of playing in leaky basements and birthday parties, your band "Groove Melon" finally has its first big concert. But a few minutes before the show, you get hit in the head and forget all the lyrics to your songs.
The crowd is screaming as the band starts to play. Better think of something quick!

For my sixth Ludum Dare, I created a text-based music improvisation game called Crowdsurf.
You play a band's lead singer who has forgotten the lyrics to his songs during a concert. It's your job to come up with new lyrics that match the original themes of your songs.
I had an absolute blast developing Crowdsurf, and it's received very positive reviews so far! Check it out here.
