Oi’m In!

Hopefully anyway!

Taking a break from usual game creation activities and using this as an excuse to learn how to use Monkey! Although I’ll be doing that tonight before the compo so I have a vague idea of what I’m doing. So, here are my tools:

Code: Monkey (or Blitzmax if I get stuck)
Art: InkScape / Paint.net
Music: Renoise
Sound: BFXR

Additional Libs: Diddy for Monkey (seems like a necessity).

I won’t have full time available so I’ll have to choose a tiny project, but excited about having a go anyway!

Good luck everyone, see you on the other side for playing/voting either way!

Evolution of Vacuum Cleaners!

Sadly I did not complete my game in time :(

I planned to do a game around the evolution of vacuum cleaners, from the early hoover with the paper bags, to the wonderfully characteristic Henry’s and finally to the bag-less Dysons of the world. It would have been magnificent!

Instead I ran out of time (silly real life!) but I was working up until the last couple of hours.

What I have done is playable here though (HTML5)

And here’s my timelapse (first time doing a timelapse!)

Congrats to everyone who finished their games, I shall definitely play as many as possible over the next week and vote/comment!

See you next time.

Hop to it – Hopper!

Hey everyone, Congrats on all the entries so far!

I managed to throw something together called Hopper!

It’s kind of endless-runnery but mostly it’s about jumping (which I keep spelling with a K in the middle for some reason) and avoiding spiky things in the air.

hopper_screen1 I’m pleased with the simplicity of the idea of the game, pretty sure I’ve captured the general idea of being minimalistic. As I didn’t have much time to work on it the theme turned out to be a blessing in disguise!

I spent about 4/5 hours on Saturday morning, but then because of family stuff I didn’t get back to it until Sunday evening. It was a shame because there were a few additional things I would have liked to have got in there.

Generally speaking however I’m pretty proud of it, I hope you’ll all give it a go!

Good luck to everyone, see you in the voting phase!
