Hi!

We’re the Atomic Vikings (http://www.atomicvikings.com). We’re a medium-sized indie team! We formed this june and have been busy working on our game engine and website during the summer! Already when we formed we decided that we’re going to participate in Ludum Dare #27!

This is not the first Ludum Dare for most of us, but for all of us it’s the first one in a team. We believe it’s going to be an amazing weekend with a lot of game-dev, community fun and awesome live streams!

We had a late start so we’re only ca 4 hours into development, but we have our concept and our artist is working on some graphics (Livestream) and our coders are working on the game structure (Livestream).

Our first day is over!

We have a great concept and we got a lot done! We’ve fixed numerous bugs and learned a lot!
We started early this morning, spawning in new ideas around the theme and what we could do.. We settled on a nifty little survival-type game… I guess we aren’t only on that topic..
During the day we made rapid progress, all of us working on our own tasks. We also streamed almost every moment of development of this game.

The above picture is our concept art – But our in-game almost look the same already!

So our plans are simply:

Sunday:  We’ll start implementing most of the gameplay and by the evening the gameplay of the game is finished.
Monday: Polish day! We’ll polish up animations, graphics, performance, sounds and everything.

We’ll probably keep streaming during these days as well!

Hey guys.

It’s late day 2 and we’ve been busy today.
We’ve put in almost all the gameplay content we want. So tomorrow we’ll finish it quickly and spend the rest of the day polishing.

I hate keeping secrets. So I won’t 😉 I’ll attach a picture of the freshly made player character that will be in our game. (Zhoot’s alien wouldn’t suffice :D)

So… after 13 hours and 45 minutes we have our first implementation of the core features of our game!

There is still a lot of work to do, but the game is playable! 😀

Atomic Vikings is searching for an 2D artist for the LD32

Hello guys, girls and vikings,

we are searching for an 2d artist that wanna join with us the Lududmdare 32. Our current artist is not able to join with us the upcoming ludum dare.

Would be nice if there is someone interessted in making with us awesome games. We know what we ware doing on got last LD rank 10 in overall and fun. LD 30 we did rank 66 in overall

Atomic Vikings are IN again

This is our 5th Ludum Dare together as a team. We are having now 5 vikings in the team. 3 coders ( C64Gamer, Metaldemon & Zhoot) and 2 artists (Riina & Olivebates) We are really happy that we can join again into this awesome jam. Last LD we did rank #10 in overall and that was amazing for us. Let’s see what we can do this time.

There is one new thing coming up. As you all know we are a bit “oldschool” an we are coding all over stuff from the scratch on in Java.

We had always problems in the past to get a web version running or it took hours to create a playable desktop version. This days are now over. C64Gamer was sitting down the whole weekend and he has created a complete automated deployment system with Maven + Jenkins + Git.

What does that mean ? It means that you are able on every commit we do in the master branch of our git system to play 2 min later the newest version directly on our website. YEAHH!!  MAGIC Url will be posted soon…

Rest in Peace, Satoru Iwata.

Satoru Iwata (December 6, 1959 – July 11, 2015) was a Japanese businessman and programmer who served as the fourth President and chief executing officer (CEO) of Nintendo. He worked as a programmer at HAL Laboritory early in his career before joining Nintendo in 2000, succeeding Hiroshi Yamauchi as the company’s president in May 2002. Iwata directed the company to pursue development of the Nintendo DS and Wii consoles in 2006, helping the company to become financially successful among other game console manufacturers. He served as company president until his death in July 2015.
