A short adventure game about post apocalyptic futuristic structure, where people society have to live after the lack of oxygen in earth's atmosphere.
Men and women have to live separately, and it is very hard for both genders to meet each other. So, YOU are trying to get the permission to the place, where you would be able to meet your lovely wife.

Very short adventure game, that focuses mostly on mood and (kinda story) telling. The gameplay is very much typical for an adventure game, and is not long.
Story is about a man, who wants to see his love. Because they are living in a huge building structure, after apocalypse, it is nearly impossible to do so. If he wants to see her again, he needs special permission. It is your quests to get it.

If you are a fan of 'good old' adventure games, I think you may enjoy my entry. Simple story, simple graphics, not very long.
Try it if you like:

This is going to be boring stuff, so if you are not interested in philosophical breakdown, keep scrolling.
I just feel I have to share this thought.
I am no veteran to LD, so I hope it is not too cheeky to talk about this. I tried to write this is a way that I wouldn't sound like cliché old-man-hipster, who says "Back in my day...", but I guess I didn't make it.
My point is, I have always loved Ludum Dare for it's small and friendly community. It always felt as if no one was egoistic about their own games, but they just enjoyed the hype of the others and the great mood of the event itself. Even obvious shitty games were rated nicely and politely and everyone was helpful and friendly.
I don't know why, but this year it seems almost as if LD went viral (I hope this is the right expression) and too many people came here to try it out... which is awesome... but on the other hand, it also lured those who are here only for shitposting ("PLS RATE MY GAME! FAST!!!" ...you get my point...) and negative comments, which I have never seen before on LD event.
I'm really glad that LD went this famous (game entries are almost doubled this time!), but I also fear, that in few years this event will be spread throughout the world so much, that there will be 100 000 game entries, and the whole mood of a small friendly community will turn into "YouTube-like /Reddit-like" huge population of trolls and negative people.
Dear colleagues,
I will keep it short.
I am looking for a coder (e.g. unity or game maker), who would like to work on a similar projects as LD is. Small simple games with complex story and dialogs. Mostly RPGs. I would love to create something similar to Dwarf Fortress in the meaning of complexity, but simplicity in the same time (omg, my senteces are so confusing).
If you are interested, leave me a comment :)
(My personal) Christmas is finally here.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to participate in the last LD.
The more I'm excited for THIS ONE!
Let's hop on that hype train, walk to the dining car, buy some energy drinks and let's start working!
Have fun everyone! :)
As someone has already mentioned earlier (sorry, cannot find the reference), theme should be chosen carefully and we should actually think about how would LD look like with that particular theme. There are thousands of participants, so we need to have thousands of different games. Imagine how boring it would be if we will have to play "Jumping Guy Shooting" thousand times.
So now imagine having theme like "One Room" (I think it's from last year) where you can do anything with one room. You can make horror game, or a farming strategy or use it abstractly, where won't be any physical room at all. This is a good theme.
Try to avoid too obvious or too shallow themes like: Like Dark Souls, Shooting, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Player is superhero, 1 vs 1,... and so on.
Theme should be more abstract and it should be able to be used for all genres, subgenres, and types of gameplays. So themes like: The other side, Life, Civilisation, Small World (from last year), Nature...
I know these examples are too short and abstract, but I hope you get my point.
The final round of themes looks very interesting. I know I talk about the importance of a good theme all the time, but imho it makes 50% of fun. Theme should be diverse, rather abstract, and it should leave us space for creativity. I really can imagine how boring would LD be with e.g."Floating Islands" :-). Have a great time!
Because I cannot wait those damn 9 hours without thinking about Ludum Dare, I made something to chill my hype out. Here is a wallpaper to set LD mood :)
PS: Does anyone know how to embed an image?

When I try to change my avatar, nothing happens. Does anyone know what to do?
Thanks :)
There is nothing more depressing than waking up seeing other people who have been already working on their games for hours.
So let do some games! (But first, eat some scrambled eggs)

Wow, Just two years ago, there were only 1400 Jammers, now we are 6000 :) . Thats cool! I just hope half of the games wont disappear in the huge amount of entries.
