Introducing Soleil, my submission for Ludum Dare 38.
I actually finished this before but never made a blog post.
Without further ado:

Soleil is a spaghetti physics platformer, with even more spaghetti story direction.
Story:
You play as the savior of a solar system which has lost its sun by collecting a mystical hot dog and keys.
Just take that in.
FYI the inspiration has nothing to do with Super Mario Galaxy (as everyone seems to assume), I've never played that game in my life.
The true concept came from the idea between me and Sean of someone who was so fat he becomes a planet by gaining obesity off other ones.
Obviously, the story has progressed a bit from there.
Process
The game direction was very hard to determine towards the beginning, and I had been randomly coding functionality in hopes that an idea would come later. This is where I really wish I had spent more time on planning, because before I knew it 10 scripts became 20 became 30 uselessly bug-ridden scripts, but somehow the game turned out fine in the end despite my failing at programming efficiently. Either way, the jam has been an interesting experience, and definitely looking forward to LD39 in the future (maybe I'll understand Unity fully by then).
Play:
You can play it on the itch link on the game post
