THRUST – Race and beat other players!

THRUST is a space racing game, in which you will have to avoid the walls and try to pickup as many cargo crates as you can. To do that, you can only go up and down (two buttons theme).

Players scores will be saved online and the best 15 will be displayed in-game! You will also be able to find the whole score table by clicking here!

I made my game from scratch in C++ using SFML lib. I used Gimp for graphics resources, Audacity and online generators for the music and SFXR for the sounds.

Already 100 scores saved!

My game alows the players to save their scores online and a highscore table is available in-game (as well as on a website). More than 100 scores have already been saved!

The first score is not so high though, I think you can do better :)

Edit: by the time I write this post, the game got over 100 scores saved 😮

I’m in !

I’ll be using C++ with SFML

I’ll try to finish a game even if I wont be able to code the whole week-end.

I'm in for the 6th time

It's been two years since my last Ludum Dare. I'm kinda rusty, but we'll see.

I will be using C++14 with SFML. I may also use one of my custom game starter lib thingy (this one, or maybe that one). As usual I'll be developping on linux ad then export the result on windows. I will be using gimp, inkscape, audacity, my microphone, my banjo and maybe some other software for the music if needed.

Good luck to every one!

No code yet

I feel like I'm late, I spent a lot of time on the concept and on the first graphics, which are not even animated yet. No code either. Yeah, I'm late.

I'm in, well, maybe

I don't know if I'll be able to code a it this weekend, or at all. Just in case: I'm in.

I will use plain C++ with SFML and one of my frameworks: potato-framework or Fluffy (both still in development, for years, hum). For audio and sound it will be Audacity and sfxr. Gimp/toshop and Inkscape/illustrator for graphic stuff.

Hope to be in with you guys!

Already got some ideas

To me, each Ludum Dare starts the same way: I check the theme on twitter and...

it sucks!

That's why this time, I took just a few minutes to write one sentence on paper for each theme. I'm surprised that I can have so many ideas when I'm not under the timer pressure!

I actually had some good ideas on themes I thought were bad. So much so that I changed my votes on the final round. I even wish some of them come out just to make the game. Of course, some themes in the list still sucks, but hey, it is what it is.

I hope it will not be regarded as "cheating". I quit the previous LDJam because I had no ideas in the first 5 or 6 hours (and then some technical difficulties that did not help). I don't want that to happen ever again, nor to anyone of you. That's why I'm sharing it and encourage people that stress in the first hours to just have a quick run on the theme list and write the first things they can think about.

See you tonight!

Well..

it sucks!

First day over, the last one will be hard

The first day is over, I got some things done but I still have a long way to go... I'm making a 2D Sports-Platformer game.

Here is a timelapse of Day 1 :

All right, now I need to work...

Give me that!

Now you can punch opponents! Time to code some AI now!

give-me-that.gif

Gameplay: done. Time to make some noise!

The gameplay is implemented as you can see on this buggy gif:

Time to make the sounds and musics now... Will I have enough time?

Do you want to punch some Goblins?

The compo game I submited has some flaws and is kinda hard. But hey, I'm proud of it anyway and I'd like as much feedback as possible! I'd be happy to test yours too!

ld41-3.png

If you want to play test it, let me know what you think about it. It's plain C++ with SFML.

My game still need some notes

Hello jammers,

My game still need some voting. If you are kind enough to play it and let a comment, I'll check out yours this evening as soon as I come back from work!

Let's code

Same blablah as always.

Blablah C++ with SFML and a custom lib you can find on my Github. Blablah the theme will be lame, blablah please not shelter.

Blablah good luck everyone!

I quit

Nice theme everyone! Just kidding...

The only thing I can come up with after a brainstorming session is to grow or craft stuff to sell for life and then exchange my life to get stuff to craft more stuff. First, that idea is lame. Second, everyone has the same in one way or another (which is normal because the theme is so restrictive, why should we have HP of any kind in the first place?). Third, I don't even want to go with that idea because it goes against a lot of my opinions and I rather spend the weekend doing anything else.

D5HydbnWAAAk5wO.png

Now look at the votes. I think there is a real problem when the "first" theme has actually negative points. That means a majority of people did not want that theme. Looking down the following ones it's even worse. How come these theme make it to the final round if a majority of people don't like them? This is a paradox to me.

I don't pretend I have an answer or a solution to that. But I think something should be changed.

I'm in usual message

I don't know if I'll be able to code this weekend, or at all. Just in case: I'm in.

I will use plain C++ with SFML and one of my frameworks: potato-framework or Fluffy (both still in development, for years, hum). For audio and sound it will be Audacity and sfxr. Gimp, Inkscape and/or Aseprite for graphic stuff.

Hope to be in with you guys!

PS: The theme sucks!

Garden Keeper: done!

It's so much work to make a game from scratch in C++, assets and all, but it's done! Time to submit!

Garden Keeper: rate the game!

Any feedback is appreciated, leave a comment and be sure I'll check your entry too!
