I'm in

I'm sooooo stressed out but i guess i'm in ! You can follow me on Twitter i'm gonna livetweet my progress... If I have the time.

My game so far

Everyone : do really good looking prototype for fun games Me : https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C-BPVUeWsAU_PSm.jpg

Recursive Nightmare : 50% donezo

The structure of my game is complete, now with the graphics. I have ~60 hand drawings to do, I hope to finish before sunday night, so I have some time to polishing the game, fix bugs and typo, and include some easter egg and secret(and maybe a super secret ending, I always loved theses things).

But first, some sleep !

Recursive Nightmare : 70% donezo

The second day goes great so far. Yeah I know my game is really simple and limited but I like it anyway. I think I'll have enough free time to add details and secrets.

Recursive Nightmare : DONEZO

My game is technically done ! I'm gonna try to improve the presentation and test if it works properly on Itch.io I'm afraid I made something too weird, too complicated or too boring but hey it's my game and it's a finished product.

Recursive Nightmare

My game is online ! It's short, weird and feature bad drawings !

Recursive Nightmare : First Ludum Dare Post Mortem

Well, because everybody do this, might as well do a quick recap of my experience with my First Ludum Dare ever. WPem20170422/em005.jpg

It's a story of stress, lazyness and bad decisions. I should have been in a team, I was alone. I wanted to do a long game with a lot of narrative, I made a short and weird game that can be completed in 10 minutes.

I was kind of disappointed with my game. I mean I did exactly what I had in mind, the game engine worked properly and the theme allowed me to experiment with a nightmarish world that loop on itself. But it didn't resulted in a fun game, at least fun in the way I imagined it. But the feedback had been really nice so far ! I was really happy to see the nice comments I had on the site, Twitter and various website. I wish the game had more content, or better puzzle and mechanism, but it's a good first game !

What worked - The game engine : I didn't experimented my javascript engine with a real game, and aside from problem of optimisation, it worked great. At least it didn't failed me. - Game mechanism : I know this is more an interactive adventure than a game, but I like the few game mechanism I put. I tought it will be unclear for players, or too simple, but it turned out great.

What didn't - Graphisms : I'll never do hand drawings for a game, never. Drawing, take the picture with my phone, edit and resize, 70 times. We can see some pictures was more lazy than other... - Time management and global planification : When the theme was revealed, I kinda rushed the design step, I wanted to start the drawings as soon as possible. I didn't took the time to design better puzzles or funnier text.

For a first Ludum Dare, I really appreciated the experience and i'm stoked for the next one ! I don't have much else to say, soooooo.... Take a look at my game here : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/recursive-nightmare It's short, weird and funny (kinda) !

I'm a big boy now ! ( and a game dev I guess)

This Ludum Dare was a really cool experience, and most of all the first time I made a "real" videogame. I mean I made some littles games in the past and started a few personnal projects, but it was the first time making a complete game and release it to the public. So far the critics have been really nice and it encouraged me to continue on this path. By the way you can check out my game here : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/recursive-nightmare It's short, it's weird and it features bad drawings !

I thought about it for a long time, but theses pasts weeks pushed me to finally start my project and create my own personnal website : http://touloutoumou.com/ For now it features only my Ludum Dare game, but I'll complete it soon with new games and other littles features. Stay tuned, and thank you all for your support !

That WordCloud thingy all the cool kids talk about

Here it is, am I cool now ? wordcloud.png

By the way you can play my game here : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/recursive-nightmare It's a cool game, I swear !

First Jam, first results

I see everyone does that, so might as well post my results here : results.png

I'm impressed, for a first LD I had pretty good grades, especially with the Innovation category ! Funny, considering how basic my game engine is. Soooo I'll stop the humble brag and fishing for compliments, I'm proud of my game, it's not perfect but it's fun. You can try it here : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/recursive-nightmare

See you until the next Ludum Dare. Because yes, I'll do it again for sure, it was the most fun I had with any computer related projects.

Oh by the way, I have a website now! You can check it out here : http://touloutoumou.com I'll post my games and other contents, like comics.

I'm in... ?

Daaaamn I really want to participate but I have so little time this weekend...

It will be my second LD. I'm gonna try to do something, even if it's a ridiculously small browser game. Stay tuned for some javascript ascii-art weirdness !

What I have right now

Not much... I'm busy this weekend so i'm gonna recycle a lot of code.

teaser2.png

Not a lot of work and... Kind of a result ?

As expected, I worked on my game less than 3 hours this week, I was super busy and tired most of the time. I have tomorrow to finish my game. Here is right now what I have : teaser3.png

It... Looks like a game ! It's pretty basic but it works ! Don't forget to check it when it's done. The game tell the story of a lonely robot on a distant planet, who just wanted to play his favourite online game...

( Project name : 54Ko/sec Space Adventure)

Almost done !

Ooooh boy I have to go back to work but i'm almost done. Just some adjustment like a start menu (and maybe a little cover art). I'm gonna have to rush it tonight :p

Don't forget to check my game when it's done. I don't have a screenshot right now but remember the name : Low-Speed Internet Robot Space Adventure (or LSIRSA).

Make a lonely robot very happy !

Done ! Here is my game : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/low-speed-internet-space-robot-adventure

teaser4.png

It's not much, but I was super busy and sick all the weekend so I did the best I could :P Anyway enjoy ! I'll do a post-mortem some days later.

Gimme your browser games !

I'm currently at work but on my lunch break I'll have some time to play games on my desk computer. Send me your browser games and I'll leave a comment (y)

Also, take a look at my game : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/low-speed-internet-space-robot-adventure It's a browser game featuring a gamer robot !

Ludum Dare 39 Post Mortem - Happy robot and tired developer

This was my second Ludum Dare, and phew I didn't tought I would make it this time !

pic.jpg

As I explained on my game page, I was super busy this weekend. I made this game in about 3 hours, late at night, super tired and sick. But I made it ! It works ! Well, it kind of work. I didn't playtested it in other browser than Mozilla and I discovered there is weird glitches on Chrome. My bad :(

Aside from that, I don't think I can compare this game to my previous LD experience. It was just a little experiment more than a real game. I work well but I had to cut a lot of content (a fun but useless intro custene, a bigger map...). I used code from my previous LD game and other various projects (remember kids, recycling is good ). The resulting game is short and maybe a bit repetitive, but I think i can expand the concept to a full game. Will I make it ? I don't know, at least I keep the idea on my head.

The feedback so far have been really positive, I'm really surprised considering the circumstances. I know I will not win but I'm happy peoples enjoyed my game. I'll certainly participate to the next Ludum Dare, I hope this time I'll be totally free to make a bigger, more interesting game. I really enjoy participate to thoses game jam and play all the differents game. Such a great experience.

If you want to play my game it's right here : https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/low-speed-internet-space-robot-adventure It's short and fun, and feature a robot !

If you interested also I have a website : http://touloutoumou.com/ I post here updates about my various projects. It's still on work but there is a bit of content, if you want to check out.

Second Ludum Dare participation, second results :

I'm actually happy ! Considering I only had 3 hours to make this game, this is a pretty good score, especially with Humor. Thank you all for playing my game, rating it and giving helpful feedbacks. And if you didn't played it, you can check it out ! It take around 15 minutes, it's weird and it feature a gamer robot.

While you are still here, you can check out my website : http://touloutoumou.com/ (english/french) Or follow me on Twitter : https://twitter.com/Le_Toulousaing (in french) I post my various projects, comics, drawing, games sometimes, but mostly french rant about videogames and TV shows

I'm in for the 3th time

I skipped the prevous LD, but now I'm back to make again some weird javascript game. Good luck for everyone!

In the meantime I developped a free game to be released soon. I don't know if self-promotion is acceptable on this website, but I might post something about it when it will be released ( before the LD I think).
