I’m doing the JAM!

Hopefully…

Just a quick sentence about my previous entry, I’m SORRY, I really wish I could do better,

on the bright side, I’ve learnt from my mistakes, and improved my programming skills, hopefully I will make all those who supported me when I doubted myself in the competition proud, thank you all for your support!,

Sincerely, Pixel Shield.

Can you test this window?

As a precaution of making sure my entry will work when released, I am asking you, or anyone for that fact to just test a simple window, if you have any issues with it, please comment, I want to avoid what happened with my last entry (no-one was able to play it!), so if you have time, It would be much appreciated.

Link : https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwTX3nOMtaigaHFqeUk0VXlNUFk/edit?usp=sharing,

All you need to do is download it and run it, if a window with a white background shows up, we are golden.

To download, click file -> download, if you so chose, of course.

The window works. But I am a C++ developer. Wait for normals. Lololol.

Did you build with static SFML?

BTW, did you extract before running?, that might explain the missing dll.

I Finally have an idea

A simple explorer / action game, there are charging ports all about the place, you are a robot, and thanks to an overbearing and useless operating system and software, your battery life is reduced to about 10 seconds, (reminds me of some phones), your goal is to explore, and map the area, of course, you will meet some resistance, some robots have evolved to obtain free will, and aren’t about to let anything near enough to take that away from them.

What do you think?

Also: Thinking of making it in game maker instead, saves me from figuring out how to handle entities (I’ve never figured out a system that I like), what do you think I should do?

I’m in, but this time…

I’m not going to pressure myself into using c++, java or c#, instead, I’m going back to my roots with gamemaker, last time I tried to make a game for ludum dare with c++, it did not end well, but I gained valuable experience, next time, I’ll be more prepared for programming the entire thing, but for now, I’m going to focus on making an enjoyable game.

Tools:

PyxelEdit or Paint.net for art

Gamemaker Studio for the actual game

Bfxr / Sfxr for sound effects

Maybe even milkytracker for music, not sure yet, I’m new making music.

I’ll probably be posting my progress on my newborn twitter account, so if you like, I’d like to have discussions about the game here, but only if you want to :)
