Here We Go!

First time doing the ludem dare so apologies if this ends up in the wrong place.

I have decided to make a space game, have a ship capable of jumping around between planet’s, landing on them with the correct orientation and then taking off again.

Next gonna work on changing direction in flight and then its time for the PEW PEW!

We have flight!

Just a quick update before I go grab some food, I now have shooting take offs and landings from planets as well as AI who can do the same. :) coming along nicely i feel

When i give them guns these guys wont be so friendly!

Anyway need food, have fun!

100% more death!

AI is now 100% less friendly, however to compensate player is now 100% more deadly to AI.

In other-words things now die when they get shot!

also added power up create’s and a basic level system. shoot more baddy’s and more show up to ruin your day.

Pew Pew!

As you can see the games visuals need a lot of shiny. something I will work on tomorrow.

Shiny!

Made things a little more shiny, added some bloom, and gave the planets different textures looks a lot better :)

Learnt to implement bloom into projects something i have wanted to do for a while now :)

Added some keyboard controls too and a very boring yet functional menu screen

yawn's-vill, yet i would rather spend more time on the main game

Coming together nicely just need some thruster trails, and then its time for the sound.

Bloom all the things! Looks nice :)

Home Stretch

All features are in ahead of time, all that remains is deciding on an ending condition, maybe a boss fight will suffice?

Now with 100% more explosions!

Nearly there, final push.

Boss fight!

If it is big and shoots big lazers at you its a boss right?

Death beams!

These spawn every 6 waves, just to really wreck your day.

LD23

I am in!

Bit touch and go as to whether i would make this event, but i think i can manage to put aside enough time to make something, so in four hours lets get cracking!

Tools: – either Unity or XNA depending upon the idea i come up with, would love to go with unity so more people can play the game.

Gimp 2 for the artwork

Sounds provided from somewhere in the Internets.

So good luck to all, look forward to playing the games!

Real life.. you win again…

Sadly i have been unable to continue development, owing to real world commitments

I did however have time, to adjust the behavior of the spheres, and the controls slightly however the game is still just a 3d version of asteroids no matter how have i look at XD

Not my best effort by a long shot. However all is not lost however as i achieved 3 things this time out.

1 :- i made a 3D game at a jam! (admittedly not a very good one but still!)

2 :- i had a massive amount of fun.

3 :- i finally got to grips with unity something i have been looking to do for a long time.

Silver lining and all that.

game is uploaded to http://www.kongregate.com/games/FerrittLD/defend-planet-tiny for all those interested.
