LD24

Never said I’m in, but I’m almost done…

I’d post a screenshot but… er… it’s a Twine online text adventure-y type of game and a screenshot would be pointless. Still, just hammering out the coding for the multiple endings (good lord, I think I have nearly ten different endings written up… yeesh) and find a good spot to host it online and I’m done!

I had already committed to two long form birthday parties this weekend, so when I realized that this weekend was also Ludum Dare I sort of cheaped out and went the Twine rout. It’s interesting, and it really only barely relates to the theme… I doubt I’ll win any awards for this. But it will be a game and it will be done and I will have done it.

It’s about cheese. Making evolutionary cheese. Sounds odd, reads even odder, but I doubt it’ll take the even the slowest reader more than 5 minutes to hit an ending. The fun I guess would be seeing all the endings. Maybe.

It very likely will be crap. But it will be *finished* crap. Next time, make sure my calendar is clear for the entirety of the game jam, heh.

Sincerely,

ABPos

With 20 minutes to spare

… phew!

It’s probably rubbish, but it’s a game, and I made it. Twine is fun, I must say and might work on a much more detailed project later. If only their macros had “Else if” statements to work with…. still this was a fun way to knock a quick one out even though I didn’t have the full 48 hours to work with. I hope you all enjoy it, or that even one person plays it 😀

Wow, thanks to everyone who tried my tiny adventure

The Fromagist was simple, but I appreciate everyone who posted and commented on my entry. I really only had a shot at the humor category (graphics? audio? What’s that?) and with my Java chops getting a bit stronger every day I think I can bring something more like a real game next time around. Also, I hope to nail the theme a bit better too.

I’m at work, and can’t write too much now but wow… top ten in the humor category. I’m humbled, I would’ve been happy in the top-half really.

Also, thanks to everyone who made a game I played – there’s some amazing stuff out there, and many talented people/teams that produce so much so fast it makes one’s head spin. I can’t wait for #25 and hell… maybe the mini LD too… it actually sparked an idea immediately in my brain for a ‘not-game’. We’ll see.

For now, just thanks and gratitude all around. I couldn’t have had a better intro to Ludum Dare. You are all the best! :)
