In tht last days I played already many games. I liked many, but this is my absolute favorite so far: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/have-mercy You try to hurt but not to kill enemies in a turn based combat. Sounds and graphics are really good and the game is well balanced. Feel free to try it out. It needs still some ratings!

One of todays actions was adding Post Processing. Before:

Dapairship made by 5 people as a jam entry is my favourite game in this jam so far. Its about keeping an airship in tact for a minute. You are alone but abled to respanwn after death and fix the ship with your clones. Graphics, sounddesign, mood, everything fits together. However this game has only 14 ratings so far. It would be sad if it wouldn't get a score since this might be one of the winners.

In the past weeks we all have played a lot of games. These are my favourites:

- Driven Round the Loop

In this game some cars and other traffic are stuck in looping roads. You can set jump marks to let them change the road to solve given tasks. Always remember: The task matters - nothing more! A funny game with nice graphics.

- Despaiship

The task is easy. Keep the airship floating for a minute. Earlier clones of you will help to fix all the failures and problems caused by sudden events. Just don't block yourself! This game is balanced perfectly, has cool graphics and sounds as well as really nice scene cuts.

- Hope/Remember

Hope is a girl at your school and possibly your date for a school's party. It should be obvious what to to... A story telling RPG with another layer of challenge. Really good audio and neat graphics.

- Gravitron - 2047

Neonlight, Particles and glowing enemies - a cool FPS. Just that you can't shoot. At least no bullets. Use the gun to set "fusionpoints" and let the objects attract each other. Lauching enemies in the sky in a futuristic city has its own fun! (Oh and you should build this core thing.)

- Purifier

A perfect example on how much a game can be polished. Whilst it's in fact just a topdown shooter the graphics, the UI and the whole background stuff is incredible. A jam game with online highscore?? And settings for so many things??

- Devoured

So this game has some puzzles but they are not really innovative. BUT the mood of this game is extremly good! Ever wanted to see a game where visuals and audio form a atmosphere that leads your way through the game? Well this is the perfect example! Even if there was absolutely no gameplay this would still be a must play. Just put your headphones on and enjoy!

So since the coutdown seems to slow down day by day, I decided to already wish everybody best luck and an interesting theme for the jam. Somehow I think I want to go for something procedual... idk. Anyway, this will be great! LD48 - we're coming!!!

There is still no gameplay (or loop), Lightning, Sounds, Level, good graphics or anything useful... But I like this wall!

Yesterday I finished most of the graphics, the game logic and (placeholder) menus. Today I'll be focussing on SFX, Levels, Polishing and the ld and itch pages. I'll try to make a trailer, so I guess it's time to make a YouTube account.

So while browsing through the games, I find a lot of really nice looking thumbnails. Comparing my own to them I can't undestand why anyone would click on it. Do you have any tips, how a non-artist can make a somewhat appealing image for the game? What should I write on it and how? Should I use a screenshot from the game or do something from scratch? And if, how to do it, that it doesn't like like made with MS paint? Any advice and discussion is highly welcome!

After collecting some ideas and comments on how to make an accaptable cover image, I decided to try to use my new-found knowladge and opened up GIMP. What do you think? Wich one is better? Or do you have more ideas for optimisation?

Hi everyone! After playing a lot of games and saving the ones I liked most, I encountered a little thing, that is nothing fatal, but would be nice to improve. I'm talking about file- / foldernames. Names like ld48, Windows, Build or anything similar are not really helpful. Sure, I can change the names of the folders, but I think a more meaninful name would be nice and help the player to find the game again later, when he liked it. Thanks and enjoy the nice entries!
