GOOD LUCK

Introduction

well, seeing as it’s the season, i thought i might introduce myself.

I’m Saxon Landers, a.k.a AClockWorkLemon, a.k.a ~ACWL on IRC. I make games as a hobby under the label ‘clockwork games’ (haven’t publicly released anything yet) using GameMaker 8.The tools I will be using for LD48#17 are:

  • GameMaker 8 Pro
  • Paint.NET
  • Audcity

And probably a whole bunch of other stuff. This is boing to be my first LD, so fingers crossed.

For examples of my previous games, check The ClockWork Engine. it’s an ongoing project to create a game engine that works off external files.

Hope you enjoy my game! ~ACWL

“work space”

to get started, i thought i should post a picture of my ‘work space’ as well.

well, this is embarrassing

@Doches

XD… you can still call me that if ya like =)

Last-Minute thoughts.

I’ve always been a bit of a nerd, and now is a time to show that off. depending if i have time, i’m planning to make my entire game with sprite that are ASCII! Should be fun.

I’m a nifflas fan, so i did a bit of practice with one of the creatures from one of his games:

Object4, Bank 10, Knytt Stories

UPDATE:

Here is another one i have done as practice:

Main Charachter from FiNCK, Nifflas' new game

Total and epic win, sir. If you manage… well, it’ll rock.

I’m going to be shooting my Ludum Dare 48h using chronolapse. Seeing as i’m in Australia, and i want to give regular updates, i will be posting a total of three videos. Expect them!

Food diet:

  • Chocolate (lindt, of course :P)
  • whatever mum cooks
  • hungry jack’s
  • lemon iced-tea cordial
  • honey (straight down the throat XD)
  • whatever else is lying ’round

UPDATE:

Been thinking on what to make, and got halfway through setting up a platformer engine before I gave up on that idea. I am now working on a ball-rolling game. could be interesting :)

Change of mind (again) ;)

well, it would seem that i have given up on the ball-rolling game. with the physics in Game Maker, it just wasn’t going to happen. I am now working on a March f the mini marios – style game thingy.. dunno what is going to happen, but i’ll get the game engine going first.

Update!

Well, my game is coming along quite well, the engine seems to be working OK (at least for now)

Wake up, Neo.

Graphics Update:

I was tiring of fiddling around with the game engine, so i made some graphics for it instead. Quite pleased with the results, I think i will be sticking to a black/white colourscheme. I haven’t

New screenshot. Now with added awsmoeness

got around to the sprites for the mini-dudes yet.

heh, probably. I was thinking of it as “march of the mini marios”, that DSiWARE game.

I like the white/black/red color scheme. I think I would go with it.

UPDATE:

Even more functionality!

Now we have:

Bridge: solid, can be walked on and underneath. can only be placed to the left or right of something

Box : solid, acts as a platform and/or wall. has physics (aka, it falls)

Jump pad: can only be placed on floors. makes l’il dudes jump

Screenie:

Wheee!!!!

Wheee!!!!

Update:

Well, i’ve got a good little HUD working now, which makes thing that much easier. Almost ready to make an engine release!

Hmm... few to many l'il dudes there....

NIFTY. I launched dudes onto spikes for quite a while until I figured out how to properly use the bridge.

heh, that’s all explained in the tutorial i am building :)

Tutorials finished

After a bit of Bug-fixing on the engine, i have now made the first four levels for my game, all of which are tutorials.

Screenie:

Bouncy!

Bouncy!

FINISHED!!! WOOOOOT!!!

Well, i have finally finished my entry. It doesn’t have any background music, as i didn’t have time (and i can’t make music for shit) and not quite as many levels as i would have hoped ( i ran out of ideas). I’m happy with the end result, especially for a first LD.

ENJOY!

A Question…

I have noticed in the voting list that there are strange bronze and silver medals next to peoples names. May i ask what they are?

They are the “coolness” medals. You get them by rating lots of games.

I also noticed that when I go to rate a game I have yet to be able to rate on all the criteria, on a few I can’t rate anything.

An apology

I must make an apology :(

I have, due to a pile of homework, been unable to rate many games at all.  will try to rate as many as i can, but I can’t promise that i will. If i didn’t rate yours, my sincere apologies. Good luck too all of you! ~ACWL

I’m still going to  be with the community, and will probably take part of LD#18, i will just be a little quiet.

I will give final confirmation depending on the amount of homework i have that weekend, but look forward to a wacky GM game from me!

Yes, Sophie is cruel and decided to actually break it. ;). I’ve gone ahead and edited the name, so it should be fine now.
