I’m in!

I’ve never participated in Ludum Dare before, and am very excited to be participating this time ’round.  I recently participated in a jam over at gamejolt.com that was awesome and made me want to do more, so after a 2 weekend break from game jamming, it’s time to hop back in the saddle! I don’t think I’ll be doing the jam, though (however, if time doesn’t permit then sure, jam, why not).

I’m going to be working on Windows 7 with Monogame (XNA) for programming purposes, using paint.net for art and sfxr for sounds, and if I choose to do a game in need of a level editor I’ll be using Matt Thorston’s wonderful OGMO Editor.

ludum dabo. (I will give a game)

The latin may sound pretentious, but I have finals to prepare for!  Regardless, I will be participating this time ’round, I already posted an I’m in post, but I just got a new desk, and wanted to share a picture!

New desk!

Also I recently decided where I’m going to livestream my development, http://www.twitch.tv/lud1us.

I’ll be programming in C#/XNA, Gonna use paint.net for pixel and graphical puposes, sfxr for sound effects, and there will most likely be no music :/

I’m in

I’m probably going to be in.  I’m slightly busy with some family birthdays this week, so I may not get much done.  I tried to compete in the last Ludum Dare, but was a bit over ambitious in my concept.  Consequently, I’ll be trying to make this concept as simple as possible.

Oh, also I will be using:

Unity/C# for an engine, (Sublime Text as an editor)

Photoshop and/or Paint.net based on the style graphics I end up with for graphics,

maybe audacity for audio,

and Blender for whatever modeling needs arise.

That pretty much covers everything I can think of right now.  It’s very possible that I will not finish my entry, but time will tell. I’m unfortunately potato-less.

I’m done!

I finished my entry early, I think it turned out well.

Subhuman

Hello all, I have just gotten started on my entry and it’s going very well so far! My game is going to be a platformer which is mirrored across the center of the screen vertically. Both sides have different challenges which you have to overcome while controlling both. It’s sort of a mixture of all the final themes. Here is a screenshot of my development from today!

The art is... Surprisingly not bad

Emergency Room

My game may be a litttle bit unfinished. Last night we installed a gate in my house so our dog couldn’t come back into our rooms, and, seeing the gate as an obstacle that I would have to overcome many times, I looked for a fast way to cross it.  The fastest way I could discover was to hurdle over it (of course). Anyways, about 3 trips out to the kitchen in I’m feelin’ good. I’ve made all of my attempts flawlessly. One might call me a little cocky at this point. So I decide to go for gold. I get a running start from the kitchen, hurl my body over the gate aaand instantly my head hits the ceiling. Pretty soon after I regained my bearings I felt blood rushing down my face. A lot of blood. So I rushed to the ER, got some stitches and lost a lot of time. It was sort of a bummer. My game’s definitely not going to be all I wanted it to be, but hopefully it’s pretty cool. Here’s some progress.

I’d vote for best story of this LD! 😀

Finished!

I finished Sub Human. It’s shorter than I wanted it to be, but I am still pretty happy with it. Here are some images!
