First Ludum Dare, first game: Flong!
So this is Ludum Dare,
On the last days of my friend Mil's visit we managed to find a few hours to make our take on the "Incompatible Generes" Genre with Unity.
In the end we just spend a few hours on Friday night to discuss various ideas. And ended up with Tap games (like Flappy Bird) and the classic Pong. Both players (yeah, no time to make an Ai for it and it's more fun with two anyway and keybinds are just two buttons on the keyboard in total), need to tap to make their paddle go up and gravitiy makes it fall down on its own.

Pong meets Duck Hunt is still something we'd like to make, but would have been too much for our current knowledge of Unity and very limited time in the past few days. A lot of thought went into Pac Man and it's Ghosts, so its was not an option for this weekend.
Saturday saw most of the work done and Monday had a quick implementation of some sound effects.
Now that we've submitted (and Mil confined to a plane for the next 12 hours), we realized that there is no way to close the game aside from Alt-F4 if its running in fullscreen... Also the ball tends to end up close to the top and bottom barrier (but can be angled out of there with good timing!)
Oh well, what's done is done. Other (highly funded) games throw an exception whenever you close them, so I guess that way fine for now. :)
We could only make the game in little time (~10 hours in total maybe, half of that it was getting Git to work with Unity and Git LFS not chewing up our commits) thanks to this tutorial that we extended with tappy controls: https://www.awesomeincu.com/tutorials/unity-pong/
Looking forward to try out the cool looking games that others have submitted. For sure we'll take part in the next LD. :)
