Premise of my game is that you're on flat earth and you have to build a world without your civilisation falling off the edge

Spent 90 minutes coming up with an idea lol then like an hour and a half prototyping, time to make a game

You'll have to take my word for it because I'm not giving you spoilers. it's a very spoilerific game. However here is an old gif from mid development. I cannot tell you any more but I promise you will enjoy it.

I'm seeing a lot of posts around like "hey I only need three more ratings" from people who already have 25+ ratings and have rated <8 games themselves. Ludum Dare is not about advertising your game, it's a joint community where we all play each other's games. If you only rate a handful of games but keep spamming your games on the feed, other games who actually did their fair amount of ratings will not qualify.
The LD website judging system lives on you doing your part and rating other people's games and receiving ratings in return. If you want a good score and some nice ratings, you should play as many games as possible so those games can qualify too, instead of begging on the feed for ratings. You have 2 days and all you need to do is play 20 to qualify. If you really want ratings, rate 100, you will get 50-70 ratings back and in the process help lots of games to qualify. Please stop this selfish mindset that people should play your games without you playing other people's.

Here's our results for seance. We got 3 golds (nice to get the Mood gold since I never targeted it before and may never again)

Post mortem:
Overall my feelings are - I'm generally disappointed in my performance. Getting the best spread of any entry in the jam but still losing in 'Overall', seems like my fault - fun was the deciding category and we were only 24th. There were design choices that I could've made to improve our fun - better onboarding - but I didn't have enough time to tutorialise.
Jam was to the wire, I spent almost 2 days just writing the dialogue and making it connect, directing the voice actors, animating everything and coding the core mechanic. Then on day 3 I had to write my first visual novel system from scratch, which left very little room for onboarding, unfortunately. I realised the major problems we made from watching streams later but no one playtested it pre release so by then it was too late.
Either way it gives a reason to keep trying I guess. My congratulations of course to the jam (and compo) winners though - good job gang, keep on jamming.
