The theme dropped at 3AM for me, so I went to bed early and got up at 6AM. Still a lot of time left!
First breakfast and then I started at around 7.
Brainstorming and idea's phase is done by now
1) Psychedelic Trip to the Depths of your mind
+ Fun take on the theme
+ Shiny art
- Needs research into "trips"
- Need to craft a believable experience
2) Clicker game on "The Depths of Success"
+ Original
- Workload on different tasks and different scoring ai
3) Deep Sea Fishing
+ Easy mechanics to build
- Multiple games already exist and I would feel like just making a copy of those
4) Roguelike in the Depths of Hell
+ Can be fast to make a roguelike
- Also feels like just making a copy of Diablo
5) Horror FPS in a Deep Sea Lab/Deep Space Station/Sewers
+ Can be as open ended as I want, or even certain death
+ No need for "real" enemies, no need for character body/animations
- Story crafting takes time and I don't feel like it (maybe?)
So now , to pick the idea I'm most fond of and is in my skill range so I can start at setting up the basics.
Might be the most annoying part because I need to be motivated/hyped for it, but need to keep into account my time and skill level (I've had a pretty long hiatus in game development and programming... Rusty as hell at the moment!)
For those interested I'm streaming my development on Twitch
