Finished the game!
I had great fun making Tunnel Gunner, and became very attached to the happy little robot I created as it’s protaganist. Ludum Dare was definitely a great experience. I really felt the pressure in the last day, trying to cram in extra features and hints with just minutes left on the clock.
This was the first game I’ve made with proper sound effects. I used Bfxr ( http://www.bfxr.net/ ) to create many of them, but took actual audio samples for others, including making silly noises into a microphone.
The droning sound of the spaceship at the start of the game was sampled from the fans on my room mates’ Doge miner, I used the automatic door opener on my microwave for another sound effect. I found the sound design really enjoyable.

One of the great things about the dare is that it pushes you to build a totally complete game, and forces you to spend time on parts of game design you might otherwise over look.
Thank’s for reading, and I hope you give Tunnel Gunner a try, you won’t regret it!
Well you might, but that’s neither here nor there.
