LD27

A long time ago…

I caught interest to LD since its number was 24 or even earlier. I was in vacation, so i enjoyed watching videos and played several games from it after.

Ludum Dare 25. It’s a cold winter outside the window.  I was waiting on contest, and start of the contest motivated me to spend 2 days on creating ideas and at least i drew… a goat. I liked spending a couple of  hours on this process. But. Clocks are saying: the contest is over!  I lost my motivation on it, but new gameplay idea was born! Hurray! Only left to create the game. Maybe, some time later…

Ludum Dare 26. 1 week before start. I’m emotionally talking to my friend about Ludum Dare and what it actually is, i’m taking part in theme voting, and every day i’m excited to look the round’s result. And the theme is… Minimalism! Boom! What the!?  It’s mostly my problem, that it’s hard for me to put one of my ideas into minimalistic space, cause my mind associates it with ‘bounding yourself with chains’. Also i can spend a couple of days into polishing an idea and creating a marvelous world in my head, and it’s not bad. The good idea must be grown with love from a little seed.  But here you must put all your creativeness and grow the idea during the process. Nobody force you to create a super-polished title. The main thing is to put your soul to the game, and people will feel it.

In another state, after cold-cold winter i wasn’t prepared enough with technical moments, like programming, tools. So i decided to prepare myself 100 percent to the next one.

Ludum Dare 27: it’s already here!  I’m trying to do it, …

Ludum Dare 28  Stop! This possibility will be in future.

Maybe, the problem was, that i haven’t announced myself in participation? So, 3 long-expected words:  I am in !

And doesn’t matter, that i haven’t finished preparing programming tools, or another stuff. You can choose an already made powerful engine or game constructor.

Can’t draw? Try! Everyone have possibility to draw. Watch the world every second, and you will found, that there are many things, happening  just right now near you, that you haven’t noticed before. You can also collaborate with more experienced artist and take part in the jam.

Motivation? Taking  part in a such big event and share with people, what you create, motivates me very-very-very!

I’m going for the jam (i like to spend a lot of time on thinking on prototype, read above :) Now i’m going to sleep(it’s night by me), so see you on the start!

Good luck dude :) I’m glad you’re deciding to participate too 😀

Question about art

I have chosen pen-drawn art style(game is point-n-click) – from one point, i like my dirty drawings :)  From another side, they look more like sketch, and putting them to the game… Plz share your thoughts about it

As far as I know, Dropbox doesn’t let you host a webpage on it. However, I’m not exactly the expert, either.

Depends on the rest of the game & game resolution.

Isn’t the man/woman in the middle a bit thin?

Yes, too thin)

Of course, game must have same resolution for all graphics

We’ve been discussing the “Uncanny Valley” on chat. Basically, I’m having a problem where my game looks so good people expect too much from it.
