LD24

Hey First Time here and I’m in!

Hi guys, my name’s Umberto and I’m Italian.

I am a Microsoft/Java oriented Dev without a job at the moment XD so I’ll try to make something good for LD24.

In this free time I dedicate myself to practice the art of game design, something made in the past but not yet called that way :-)

I’ll be using:

IDE: Construct 2

Language: HTML5

Graphics: Paint and Photoshop CS5.5

Sounds: SFXR

Music: I’ll suck for this.. -.-

Yes, I use something “not hardcore” but I bet on the quick things that Construct 2 offer :)

Good Luck and Nice to meet you, everybody.

The best idea is this Umberto! Use quick tools to make a game fast with focus on gameplay (else you will be dealing the entire LD with C++ pointers…)

Wanna use Construct too if the time goes bad on my weekend 😀

I’m finishing the prototype of the game, after a little physics I’ll just have to add obstacles with sprite and dynamic spawn. The night brought counsel, along with a music in my head :-)

First screen of the game, graphics sucks…I am not a graphic guy, I am here with PS and my mouse LoL.. In my game you’ll run through the various ages of Human History with some idiot surprises 😀

I’m going to eat something good :-P

ok guys I am going to be away for dinner with friends, maybe I’ll do something during the night, but quietly. I wish you all good work and do not give up, if you’re stuck, take a walk outside … even if there is a storm.

And keep in mind what is written below.

Done! I did IT!

I managed to complete the game in about 10 minutes from the end, I have to say that tonight I lost a lot ‘of time .. I could put less sincerely.
Thank you all for the opportunity and I hope you enjoy my “Human Evolution” XD

good night

Human Evolution – Time to Post Mortem

Hello to all,
I’m really happy to be here and to have participated in this nice event, but most of all I am very pleased to have successfully completed something that even I had doubts finish. My game “Human Evolution” is simple, trivial and childish, but I did it and it is running at 100% XD

You can find the game here: HUMAN EVOLUTION

Post Mortem

What went right:

IDE/Language: I used Construct 2 for my first ludum dare and it was a nice experience, is fast and easy, and I had little to think about as I designed the game.

Idea: The idea came to me on the morning of August 25, I woke up, had breakfast and I did not think about anything but just this guy running through the historical ages without the slightest explanation XD

KISS: The survival guide for the game jam has been very useful, I had on my smartphone my TO-DO list, I had it all planned and it helped me a lot .. even though I have not met exactly.

What went wrong:

Graphics: I’m not an artist, this is my biggest weakness .. maybe I should focus a bit ‘and seriously study the pixel art, I know something, but as you can see from the game at some point (with the time he was about to run out) I preferred to hurry, and I drew badly as a child of 3 years ..

Loosing Time: On the second day I lost quite a bit ‘of time that could be used to make better designs, but because of the many images that were created I became lazy .. and at one point I even started to play with the nerf guns in home with my brother .. losing one hour and a half  XD

Calculation of the difficulty: In the rush to complete the game, I did not look at your increase in difficulty as the player continues through the ages, the increase in the speed of the character is much lower than I had thought and testing in the final stage no one has and I pointed out I did not mind because of my attention to the graphics to be completed.

What Now?

Well now I just have to tell you something, do not let nothing and no one to stop you from doing what you like, do not expect pats on the shoulder or encouragement by the people beside you .. just do it.
Send them all to the hell if necessary, but do it.

sincerely

Umberto

I’m In [Second Time]

Second time here and I’ll try again! 😀 Same Construct 2 IDE, same crappy graphic 😛

The draft is ready

After a little ‘hours of this morning, after reading the topic, I began to plunk down a little’ ideas about the core mechanics.

I’m making a game style “action tower defense” that was inspired by Tolkien’s novel, and the release of “The Hobbit” movie, where you play as Sauron XD

This is the first screenshots, the graphics are almost non-existent (only the eye has been done) and I have only sketched the rest. Good jam everyone XD

Fuck! THE HOBBIT ARE TAKING MORDOR!!

First Day is already Gone!

First Beta

The draft has evolved and I have to say that is coming on well, we are lacking to implement other three “heroes” to send to the assault of our poor Sauron, but by tomorrow morn they are ready. I hope to do all the graphics left in the afternoon and evening.

Good night everybody, see you tomorrow

Mordor Must Resist! v2.0 is LIVE!

I have successfully completed version 2.0 of the game presented here and, like others, have added to the download page. I hope you enjoy it XD

This is the Patch Notes:

– Auto fire (no need to spam the left mouse button)
Highscore board implemented (Each player can challenge your friends at home or, as I do, my work colleagues)
Spells: Added 4 spells: 3 unlockable to the score of 650/2000/4500.
– Spell 1: Arrows (orc archers will shoot two arrows to hit the eagles coming from above)
– Spell 2: Trolls (2 large trolls come out from the tower that will kill the first 10 enemy units that will be on their way)
– Spell 3: Meteors (A meteor shower will wipe out a large number of incoming enemies)
– Spell 4: Heal (The tower will regenerate 30% of his life)

See ya!

“Pretentious ’em Up!” is DONE!

Against all odds I attended! Later I started to create my own game, really at 7 pm on Saturday, because the ideas were scarce and did not know how to take the theme: (
But in the end, here is my entry, is a classic shoot ’em Up minimalizzato to the fullest and with a moral and a metaphor that I hope many of you will catch at the end.

I really enjoyed myself this time, I think I’ll do a post-compo version of the game to add layers and features: P

Good luck and I hope you enjoy mine!
