Arputikos

LD 40

I'm also in!

Hi! I'm Arputikos.

It's my second LD, and something about 12th game jam. I'm very excited about making new game, because it's a while since I was on a game jam. (actually, one month! Last one was DiscoVR). This time I'll focus on creating small yet polished game. I'm tired of ambitious, but very .. hmm.. 'prototypish' games :D As I said, since my team consists only of me, I'll make tiny game. Maybe for android. Tools I plan to use: - unity - graphics gale / flash / photoshop / gimp - fl studio - bfxr (or I will record something myself :) ) I aim to have fun and make an original game. As always :D

If you want to play my games, or see what else I do, you can visit my website:

Stay tuned for news!

Awesome!

I've already done core mechanics of the game. It's working and it's funny! XD XD XD

Watch this gif:

parentemsim/em01.gif

Sounds in this game are priceless. It's very crappy that GIF's can't have sound. I guess you have to try it yourself to hear it! :D

It's going to be

... wait for it...

LEGENDARY!

See you!

Parent simulator - Update 2 !!

I've been working on the mechanics for the while and now it looks like this:

parentemsim/em02.gif

The progress bar indicates how hungry is (or rathor NOT hungry) the child. If it falls to 0, the child dies!! Wait and see what happens if the child is overeating!! :D

So please be a responsible parent!! Do fed your children properly!

All the animations are done in magnificent GraphicsGale software. It's the best soft for pixel art. Indeed, it seems (and it is) very small program, but every time I'm looking for some tool or option, it's always there. It just perfectly fill my pixel-art needs ;)

Stay tuned for more (...children...)!

Parent Simulator - UPDATE III

So I've just rewritten whole child AI. Now it's a lot more logical and simple.

I also added a timer (there will be propably 60 seconds to keep'em alive!) and a screen with instruction and game over screen. Of course also win screen.

I'm not decided if I should make player able to win or not. How it is in real life? :D

Propably you can manage it and win ;) if you have patience and luck.

parentemsim/em3.gif

also added some nice finishes and more frames to puke animation. Yeah, you heard it right, puke:

parentemsim/em4.gif

Doesn't children puke if they overeat? :D

If you constantly try to feed overeaten children, it becomes hungry, because it pukes! And if it's too hungry it falls asleep! XD XD XD

I want to add about 4 different characters:

children.png

But I've animated only the 1st one so I don't have if I'll have time to make the rest.

Stay tuned for news!

PARENT SIMULATOR - UPDATE 4

Hi hello and hi. The game /jam edition/ is almost ready

main.png

I just need to test builds and make some crazy soundtrack!!! :D

Oh man, I need a bed or coffe... Why I am writing this! I go back to work! Bye!

{ PS. Stay tuned!!! :J }

Parents Simulator - FINISHED !!!

image.png

Yeah. The game is the real life! You become a parent, responsible for feeding your children... You need to feed them but they must not overeat! Also, check if any of them is not so hungry to die!

gif_trailer.gif

INSTRUCTIONS:

!!PLAY WITH SOUND!!

The game is simple. You need to keep the children alive for specific amount of time. Click on a child to feed it. On the left side of each child there is a progress bar. It indicates hungry level. If it's too much... well see yourself ;) If it falls to 0, the child dies...

There are 10 levels. I wanted to do more, but there wasn't enough time to create more mechanics.

It's a game about balance, time management and ... human resources :D

Used software: Unity, GraphicsGale, GoldWave and GIMP.

Android port is ready!!

I've just build android version of the game, so you can take your children to work or school in your pocket! How cool is that?! ;)

History and possible development of this game.

I created this game because such strange idea came to my mind. The other reason is that I was tired of zombies, killing enemies etc... and I'm happy that I changed genre a little bit

gif_trailer.gif

Further development

The game could be finished, and the full version would include: - different stages: feeding children, leading off them to school (watch out for them), lulling, cleaning, swaddling them and so on! - difficulty levels: for example, advanced levels of feeding would include refilling the bottle, keeping the milk warm... not only more children! - *maybe budget, and you get funds from the government (for each child, so you want to have more of them, but not too much to manage them, etc!) - hmm... the thing is that crying sound is too annoying for many people.. too annoying to keep them alive!

Is there sense in finishing and releasing it? Even if I would finish the game, I'd have to decide: release it on Steam or Android?

I don't really know what platform would be a better target for such a game...Is a game for young people, middle-aged, or old ones?

Disclaimer: I didn't wanted to discourage players from having children!

What do yout think? Let me know! Would you play it on smartphone rather than PC, or not?

Comment, play, and if you haven't rated 'PS' - rate and give me some feedback plz!

You can play and rate here --> https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/parent-simulator

This was a great game jam, they are really pushing me forward. I learn a lot and it's relaxing to make something different than usual ie. every day.

Thanks!
