LD22

First Ludum Dare

I decided that I would enter this time after considering it for a long time. I’m not sure what I’m developing yet, but it’ll probably be 2D (I am not a modeler) and be in XNA. I have my coke and my Vimto, tomorrow I’m going to stock up on snacks etc. After voting on the themes I can see some I defiantly could develop games for and I want to do something either super serious or super silly. I’ve also looked at the warmup games and I’m very impressed with them, I don’t know how far I’ll get with my game though. I plan to work on all the mechanics which have to be added, then worry about music, and graphics because I think that’s where my time management will fail me. I thought about maybe streaming it as I do it, although I don’t think that would be interesting for most people so I’m going to probably use twitter and upload a screenshot every 1o-30mins so people can see how I’m getting on. What I’ll be using: XNA for the game, Photoshop/Paint.NET for the graphics, I’m not sure about the sound yet I’m really not very good when it comes to sound, I’m doing research now on reddit and probably be testing and practicing before LD starts.

All in all I’m looking forward to it.

Don’t trade in your tools

People on the chat should really stop people from choosing their tools, pick the tools you are familiar with not what people tell you to choose. They support the killing of kittens, look at the button!

That’s either a pause or a star menu. Either way- looks like you are alone in space…

Awwwww Yeeeaaaaa- Ideas!

I haven’t really slept, but I had an amazing idea while sitting in bed. My game probably won’t be a nice as I want it to be. Hopefully people will find it both fun and challenging. The idea is that you are alone on a spaceship, parts of the ship are failing and you stand in limo, unsure whether to fix it or to give up. It’ll be a sim-like game where you balance your needs against your survival chance. The game only last 10mins and each activity will be . I also want to add some kind of online system where you can upload your score and implement a leaderboard system, assuming I have the time. The current stats I have so far are, hunger, thirst, happiness, energy, fun, bladder, memories.

On an unrelated note, does anyone find that programming too long makes words ‘look wrong’, I keep thinking I’ve misspelled words, such as screen or loading. It might be my dyslexia though. Back to bed with me!

Screwed up animation

I messed up the animation so I think I’ll give that up for the moment. Everything else looks good, right? Right? Whoops.
