Fun challenge, and I even finished on time

It took me surprisingly long to choose a topic at the start. But with my love of flight games, I decided that would be one of the genres. I mixed with an old school Zorp-like text based game where you have to type to control the plane.

I wish I got more story in time, but I got close enough that the (completed) tutorial gives you a feel for what the atmosphere is like. The game is more fun than I expected, and it wasn't too crazy to work on this for 32 of the 48 hours!!

Make sure you check your compass and map often to keep on track, and you can type help for most of the commands needed.

Streaming the process REALLY helped keep on track. Thank you to everyone who watched! (AzimuthGames)

Congratulations Jammers!

Congratulations Ludum Dare Jam participants! Its great to see a new wave of submissions coming through and rating them. This was my first game jam, and although I want to eventually work on a game with another person, I submitted on the Compo entries. Today I did a little work to fix up some commonly noted comments on my game.

AeroWrit is a text-controlled flight sim. It works a bit better than it sounds, and though I want to continue and add more story to the main gameplay has an end, I would love for you all the check it out!

Zoltanya Early Release!

Wow! Good work everyone! I've only done one Ludum Dare before, but this one was much more difficult! This LD really underlined the idea of keeping your ideas controlled and realistic.

Zoltanya started with a clever take on "Your Life is currency" what if your life was literally the currency (money) given to you. The most obvious version of this to me was the robotic fortune tellers that only come to life when you pay them.

To make the idea more interesting that giving fortunes, I also added the ability to hack other machines and shut them down forcing customers to try out your machine. I also wanted to add an ominous horror feel to such a grim thing as being slave to a quarter. I believe I achieved some of that with vignette, chromatic aberration, and grayscale, but things like brutal self doubting voices did not make it in time.

I hope you all had fun and enjoyed the LD, especially now that they will be 2 a year, and I hope you check out Zoltanya! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/44/zoltanya-outdated-robot-fortune-teller Zoltanya End Screen.png
