Hex Grids are awesome!
They might not be as minimalistic as square grids but combined with a vector/tron-esque simple look & sound I consider it appropriate.

While voting through the list of 'neglected compo games' I found these two gems that are too good to ignore even though their authors are too busy to participate in the rating.
