Chests! Bonus! Malus!

So it’s the end of the first day, or should I say the beginning of the second one ? it’s 3am here :p

Anyway, our team (one artist and one programmer) have made good progress so far. The gameplay implementation is pretty much done (pretty much is the keyword here…) , and we have most of the items and characters sprites.   We still have to design the levels and  the tileset to create, but  we should be able to complete it in the remaining time.

chests

I can’t think of a good caption for this one, a maelstrom of chest?,  a chest reunion?, or a chest fight?, well, you decide…

Chests are the central point of the game. Basically, you can open only one chest in each level, each chest having either a bonus or a malus inside.

In the left bottom corner, our heroin. And in the top right corner, an npc, who just want to exchange some greetings… perhaps…

Have fun everyone!

Chest is the key

We made a first public build of Chest is the key, our jam entry :

Controls:

arrow keys to move, space to attack when you have a weapon.

We are still undecided about the amount of explanation to give in game, since the surprise factor play a big part in our concept. So, it’s feedback gathering time! :)

cheers

We got one screen, one snowman and one hero, what’s next?

Our jam entry will recreate the environment of a computer desktop  where the hero interact with the various software installed. So far we got the basic mechanics down, we plan to add various mini game that will play through several windows, and perhaps give a bigger role to our wallpaper’ed snowman :)

Our jam entry start slowly to take shape. Several technical hurdles slowed down the development, and in the end we decided to settle on a simpler game. Rather than multiple mini-games, we will concentrate on making small levels using the same base mechanics. Our hero will have to find the exit of each window, and each exit will teleport him to a new window / level.

Run Santa, Run!

So, it’s almost Christmas, and the perfect time for Run Santa, Run! to see a post jam release!

A little background about the game, You have to help Santa Claus reaching safely his sledge. To do so you can change the direction at each crossroads. Along the way you will have to avoid manhole and kids that want their presents before Christmas!

The game use the two button controls theme, one button to change direction at crossroads and one button to lay a barley sugar behind you so kids stop following you.
