Hey guys, It's our first Ludum Dare and we are waiting this event for month. Hope that it will be a good training and a lot of fun. We trained a bit ourselve with a game we made in a week end on our itch page. Hello there, it's our first participation to a gamejam, so after 27 hours we want to do a little summary of what we got and what we thought about.

Reflexions

The subject "Your life is currency" is not so easy. We didn't want to fall into a basic game. So it took approximatly 6 hours before we succeed to find a cool idea. We got the idea that every human being life can be summary to memories. We are made of childhood memories, romance memories, work memories etc etc. So if someone can steal memories and made or buy new one we will have a "Life" currency.

Our game

We take the control of a hacker that lost a lot of memories, he has only few childhood memories and want to become the most powerful man on earth.

He found a way to hack people's mind to put his own childhood memories inside them. After that they will think they are friend for a long time. This way he can gather and steal the memories of the new friends he made. The more friends are gathered on the same square, the more cool memories will be generated

Only problem, detectives and cops will see something weird and try to catch our Hacker by all means. It will be represented by a red square on the grid that will chase you.

So our Hacker will have to logout before being arrest. The more Hacker will steal memories, the faster the detective will move. After being logged out our Hacker can upgrade some skills and buy new memories on the Dark Web.

Each new memories will be special and either the Hacker can try to generate more by putting memories inside his childhood friends (white people) or he use the special effect of a memory by using it on non-childhood friends. For exemple if you put a Work Memory on a friend that is generating Teen memories, then a Desk will appear and the man will generate Teen memories twice fasters.

Details

So for the moment everything is working pretty fine. The game is a bit too easy but we will balance that after. We still need to make some mechanics for all the special effects of memories :

• Childhood memories -> Create a new fake childhood friend (can have a pourcentage of chance to make a friend generating new unknown memories)
• Teen memories -> Will transform a friend to a teenage friends that will generate teenage memories (has a better chance to make a friends that generate new unknown memories)
• Work memories -> Will transform a childhood friend to a work friends. If put on a non childhood friend it will make a desk appears and generate memories twice faster
• Romance memories -> Will transform a childhood friend to a romantic relationship. If put on a non childhood friend it will make new friends appear on the top, bottom, left and right and they will generate the same memories together
• Party memories -> Will transform a childhood friend to a party friend. If put on a non childhood friend it will make all near friend of same type do a party and make them all generate memories twice faster
• Travel memories -> Will transform a childhood friend to a traveling friend. If put on a non childhood friend it will make him become a childhood friend and the hacker will get back the memory that was generated
• Dream memories -> Will transform a childhood friend to a imaginary friend. If put on a non childhood friend it will make a zone of teenage friends appear near it.
• Knowledge memories -> Will fill the grid of childhood friends
• Drama memories -> Will transform a childhood friend to a drama friend. If put on a non childhood friend it will make him do a drama and if the detective move through him it will make him slower
• Rebellion memories -> Will transform a childhood friend to a rebellion friend. If put on a non childhood friend it will make him rebel and stop every detective that goes through him

THE GAME

HackZ Memories is a puzzle game. Try to make money and unlock the ending of the game. In this world, memories can be sold in the dark web, and hackers are feared. Unfortunatly you were robbed and don't remember anything. The only solution you got is to steal memories from other peoples. But everything will not turn exactly as you expect.

HOW TO PLAY

• Arrow keys or ASDW to move
• Right click to turn the camera
• Middle click to drag the camera
• Keys 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0 to switch selection of memory (or click on it)
• Click on the cells near your character to create friends using Childhood memories.
• Each friends will generate memories through time
• You can buy new memories and upgrade in the shop
• When you use a Non-Childhood memories on a friend it will change color and begin to generate the new memory you set
• You can use a special effect of each memory type when you use it on a Non-childhood friend
• After 30 seconds a Detective will arrive to catch you, you have to logout before he arrives to you
• Try to combine special effects to unlock the secret ending

We struggled to make our game playable in a webbrowser but we finally succeed. It's now available on webbrowser , windows, mac and linux. And we fix bugs that we had in feedbacks.

Fixed bugs :

• currency spawn in shop duplicating currency
• detective use the wrong timer for speed acceleration
• Zoom is not working
• Hover Text showing when nothing to display.
