Boboil’s Adventure

Well, for my Ludum Dare, I decided to make a sort of Sim Ants type game. Basically you press a button to start the day, and stuff happens! This game is based off a joke from www.Hamumu.com which is a typo of an old game he made featuring a knight called Boboli, which got typo’d as Boboil at some point. I don’t know how it got so popular, and why it’s so funny, but it is.

You will be able to go adventure by clicking on a button to make your day start, giving you random things that happen that day such as:

ex: -You dug but found nothing

-You dug and found 1 Silver

-You trip and drop your wallet, you drop all you got on your trip so far!

With the material you got, you will be able to purchase items to make you day easier. I still have no clue how you will win this game, or if I should even make that you can, but I’ll figure that out later.

I was also thinking of adding fights, kind of like random encounters. If I do so, I might as well make good encounters. So far so good, I will presumably finish this game in time.

Also, in case anybody reading this is wondering, it will be made with Flash CS4 using Actionscript 2.0

Boboil’s Adventure – Update

Boboil’s Adventure is going quite well. So far I’ve added the minerals that you can mine, and you can use them to purchase items at the shop to get more minerals faster! Nothing that exciting yet, but I’m on track to have this finished by the end of the contest. Still no idea on how you will be able to win this game, or if I even will make that you can win, but that will be dealt with later.

Boboil’s Adventure – It’s done!

I forgot to make an actual post about it, but my game, Boboil’s Adventure, is done! It might not be the biggest/funnest game, but I think it’s still fun for the amount of time you’ll be playing it.

And We’re Off!

After thinking long and hard, I got an idea which should be fun, complicated, and sure to never be done in time! The reason I say this is it’s because it’s a fighting game, which includes a lot of animation, different characters, stages, and complicated computer AI. I decided to go with a somewhat sloppy old-school art style, which hopefully and up looking both good and not take much time to create. Screenshot for the curious:

I believe in you!!! A fighter is an awesome idea, actually; You’re right though, the AI might be kinda difficult … Best of luck! Even if you don’t finish I want to see it released at some point 😉

Great pencil sketch. I like your art style! Makes me think of Kareteka or Kung-Fu Master.
