LDJam complete - Deep Bomb Galactic!
I finally took part in my first jam with 2 others (who had done LD previously). It was a great experience and challenge!
We came up with the initial plan during the first evening, after an hour or so, as we bounced from idea to idea. We didn't come up with the whole game at once, but rather found something compelling to latch on to, and then iterated on it to find the fun after an initial pass.
It all came together when we started throwing out ideas for our different bomb types. We also focused earlier in the process on making bombs fun to detonate, knowing that would be something the player would be doing a lot.
Initial issues: - We initially tried 3D art, but found that it took way too long, and so abandoned it after a few models. - We had block-in art that I had thought would be good enough, but after we made a second pass on gameplay, found that it would be better to push it forward more. - We were and are still challenged by the balance of bomb costs. The procedural nature of the levels also plays into this as well.
Anyways, thanks for taking a look. Check it out here! - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/deep-bomb-galactic
