In the Jam

Hey people!

So this will be our first Ludum Dare.  We’ll be programming from the Longmont TinkerMill Hackerspace in Colorado. We’ve opened the event for anyone interested and we’ll be here most of the weekend.

LTH Team #1 Tools;

  • Python 2.7
  • Pygame Library (SDL wrapper)
  • GIMP2.6 (maybe some Blender if we get fancy)
  • Audacity

We’ll be using WinXP and Linux (Ubuntu12.04), so hopefully no snags there.  We understand that web based games are preferred, but python is just more comfortable for us right now. Happy game making to everyone!

Still Jammin’

So we’re a day and a half in… So far we’ve got two new team members, a programmer and a sound-man, a nifty title screen, a main character sprite, a tile set for the levels, and the majority of the game engine code. Here’s a shot of the title screen!

You only get one… sense.

Our game is  a top down isometric maze game with a random map generator.  You’ll only get one sense to use, controlled by one button, one life, and one brain.  The different senses are mostly represented visually with overlays and sprites. Here’s a preview of the changing overlay when you press space-bar;

You can see that the random map generator is working perfectly;

more to come.

Under the wire!!!

What a great weekend! We all had a lot of fun down here at the Longmont TinkerMill Hackerspace.

WooOOooo!!

Here we are doing the next Ludum Dare out of the TinkerMill in Longmont, CO.

No screenshots! No code blocks! No title screen! Just a great concept from an awesome theme.

STAND BACK! By the end of this weekend it will be playable prototype.  Stand by until then…

Good luck finishing up your thingamabob! Ended up sleeping for 13 hours, and then just went back to Golden. Tinkermill’s a nice place!
