LD 44

I will rescue your web game

rescue-des-moines.jpg

If you're under 20 ratings and have a web build, link your game here and I'll give it a whirl before I go to bed tonight.

Sorry, I can't play downloads!

I will rescue your (HTML5) game!

If your game has a web build and less than 20 ratings, leave a link in the comments and I will play it before judging ends tomorrow.

Thank you for playing! #3 in humor category! Glad you got a chuckle!

Collecting Really Nice Cats! placed third in humor, and for all the players and raters and streamers and devs and haters, you have my deepest gratitude. Thank you. This was the best game jam I've ever participated in because of the community.

I regret that I could not play every game, I'm still finding some gems that I wish I had seen before judging closed. Very, very impressed with the quality of the games in LD this time despite the terrible theme!

Lessons learned:

  • If you don't have time for audio, then go full YOLO and generate your audio by face. It worked for me (#60 in audio category LOLOLOLOL), I'm sure it can work for you.

  • If your theme integration is a pun or something of a reach, a not-insignificant quantity of people will not "get" it unless you spell it out clearly. It sucks to have to explain a joke, but sometimes you have to. The comments about my game not fitting the theme stopped as soon as I updated my game description to explain the theme tie-in in the first sentence.

  • Know your tools. I noticed several nasty bugs when I watched other people play that I couldn't replicate on my own machine, and this was because my interpretation of Phaser's physics API was just wrong. If I had read the docs a little more closely I could have avoided a buggy (or outright broken) experience for a handful of players, including more than one streamer.

  • Keep your scope small! A big reason my game is ugly as sin and incomplete-looking is because I had dozens of features planned that had to be abandoned when I ran out of time on sunday. On sunday afternoon I realized that I had to stop everything and immediately implement win and loss conditions, game over screens, ui, and sound effects if I were to have any hope of getting the game uploaded before the deadline. I finished implementing the sound effect just minutes before the deadline.

Knowing that my game could make you laugh and smile is extremely fulfilling. Thank you again.

Ludum Dare 45

Ludum Dare 46

Hungy Hungy Dwagons now supports international keyboards

You can play it here

I neglected to add cursor keys as an input method in the original submission, I've updated the game to support it so people who can't know the simple joys of WASD will be able to play the game without reconfiguring their keyboard mapping.

Thanks @spawnie for pointing out the unforgivable omission! promo-gameplay.png

PICO-8 Gang Gang

Got it in an itch bundle earlier this year and it's been a ton of fun to toy with. Gonna try to make something cute and simple for LD this year - I won't over scope this time!

Another Stork Entry

Loving PICO-8 for jamming more than I ever thought I would.

DON'T FORGET TO MAKE A WEB BUILD

I can't play your entry if you don't make a web build :,-(

Remember that game from LD46 that would reboot your machine when you beat it? That's not the worst thing that can happen running random executables made by strangers on the internet...

HOLY CRAP GG EVERYONE

I'm not exaggerating, this may be my favorite Ludum Dare round. I played so many great games. You guys rock.

Went in thinking the theme was lame but y'all brought so many cool ideas to it <3

great job friends! GG
