Ludum Dare 56

We make a fun card game!!!

game:https://lola108.itch.io/vortex-of-life This is a card-based role-playing game where you play as a mouse scientist conducting experiments on tiny creatures that share certain similarities with him (well, at least he thinks so). By placing different material cards into the petri dish on the right and using a magnifying glass to observe, you will record your experimental data and draw conclusions. The state of the test subjects will influence the outcome of the experiment

If you have any questions or suggestions, please leave a comment. !!!We’d love to hear your feedback!!!(♡´∀`♡)

How to play: Click the cards below and Ⓐplace them into the petri dish on the right,♡

Ⓑthen use the magnifying glass to observe.

🄲Try to maintain the health of the test subjects as much as possible.

If you hover your mouse over the text, you’ll experience some magical 6fefcac21383b55fca95cdcad1f31a7.jpginteractions!

Please be patient and read through the text in the middle, and wait for it to disappear. (˃̶͈̀௰˂̶͈́) We are a three-person team, so there might be some imperfections. About: How to Play My Game

We apologize for forgetting to include the gameplay introduction in the description. I'm adding it here. How to play: 1. Click the left and right arrows on the cards below to switch card types either forward or backward. The numbers on the cards indicate how many of that type you have. (Note: there’s a temporary bug where the number may not update immediately after you consume a card. To refresh, just switch to the card type that you just consumed.)

  1. Click the three magnifying glasses on the right side of the screen to view the three Petri dishes. You can choose whether to feed them the selected card, as different card types will affect the values of the three bottles in the lower left corner.

  2. When you select "✔," it means one card of the current type is consumed, and a story panel will appear in the center of your screen. Please read it fully and wait for it to disappear before proceeding.

  3. By balancing the values of the three bottles in the lower left corner, you can achieve the true ending before all cards are consumed. If any bottle fills or empties early, you will reach different endings.

  4. Ultimately, these endings reflect your conclusions as a mouse scientist. You may successfully reach the true ending or fail early and receive a subjective false ending.7d867414bdc272bd658d8f8de871abc.png6524159b8eccd6d1e2f46e94737ea7b.pngdcc16b61bd4d6b0f28ffc6e368725eb.png05f03c5f-1ca2-4d3e-9d22-44daa090203e.gif

IMPROVE THE GAMING EXPERIENCE....

We've added a skip button to the opening animation, and we've also included a button to play a sound guide for better understanding of our game. We're currently adjusting the display time of the story dialogue box, which still has some issues. Once testing is complete, we will update everything in the game. We welcome you to play our game and would love to receive your rating and feedback!dc8d41fc3c385b9b6f912e97d493ee1.pngfdc51a808dc3272fa56f803a8bd452d.pnga4e60f426c31c19bc75f6d9fc0d0e04.png

We’ve finished the update!

We’ve finished the update! This time, we’ve improved the storyboard display, fixed text overlap and speed, and adjusted the bottle values. We’ve also added the option to skip the opening animation. Since many players understood the interactions but were unsure about the meaning of certain elements, we included explanations in both the opening animation and the game, such as audio guides. These will help you quickly understand what the cards and bottles represent!db221287a0ddcdf39b9db8451039d557.jpegd73f9feba778c1238e0eb3f858775ff7.png

If You Enjoy Stories, Come Check Out My Game

Hello everyone! I am the developer of this game, and today I'd like to introduce you to my latest game, Vortex of Life. It is a story-driven simulation game that explores the rise and fall of micro-intelligent species.

In Vortex of Life, you will play as a mouse scientist conducting a sociological experiment, observing three microbe groups that resemble 'mice' as they grow, cooperate, and face challenges in a complex environment. By allocating resources (in the form of cards), you interact with these microbe groups, driving their development and collecting experimental records. The game's story is presented in fragmented pieces, including experimental logs and news reports, and features multiple endings. You need to play multiple times to piece together the complete story.

As the game progresses, you will witness the microbe groups transition from prosperity to decline—some collapsing due to resource competition, others weakened by disease and internal conflict, ultimately all facing extinction. The core of the game is to prompt players to think about how societies develop and evolve under limited resources and complex conditions.

If you enjoy exploring story details, try playing multiple times to piece together the fragmented story and discover hidden surprises. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this fascinating world. 2c3552f4-2516-4638-9d09-348de663acab.gif 6fefcac21383b55fca95cdcad1f31a7.jpg90be1d8b86f9379ecbe837e76c646f5.png
