I guess now will suffice, nothing to get in the way of me this time 😉

Anyway, I’ll be using Java, as it’s the language i’m most comfortable in. Using the Slick2D libraries. I also have some basic code setup, which just has a framework to allow for easy drawing of things in the correct order, and is viewable on github, with a couple of test graphics just to check it worked 😛

Progress!

I’ve been coding and drawing for about 6.5 hours (UK) now, making good progress and I just thought I’d take a little break to document my thoughts, and possibly help anyone who is still struggling for an idea 😛

So when I first saw the theme at 2AM uk time, I was a little disappointed. Taking it immediately at face value, I thought that that meant that everyone was going to make loads of warioware style minigames.I made it my immediate goal to not do such a thing, and started looking for other interpretations of the theme. After a quick google, I found a few other definitions other than time:

sec·ond

/ˈsekənd/ Number Constituting number two in a sequence; coming after the first in time or order; 2nd. Verb

1. Formally support or endorse (a nomination or resolution or its proposer) as a necessary preliminary to adoption or further discussion.
2. Transfer (a military officer or other official or worker) temporarily to other employment or another position.

Some ideas rushed through my head, all either ridiculous or over-ambitious or boring or stretching it too far…

“10 people come second in a race, kill them all so you are the only person to come second!”

“You are in a brawl club. You have come second 9 times in competitions. If you come second for a 10th time you will be killed for being rubbish”

“A political leader needs 10 people to second his motion before it goes through, make sure they can’t second it”

“You are a political leader! Convince 10 people to second your idea!”

None of them really stuck with me… so I was back to the time. I really didn’t want to make some 10 second long minigames, so I chose a concept of a ‘rechargeable’ 10 seconds. I believe several others have gone with this idea as well, and I personally think it allows for a fun game, that is challenging and relates to the theme 😉

I’ve gone with 10 seconds of fuel. Fuel for what though? I’ll tell you next time 😉
