Yup, there’s been progress.
Although I’m nowhere near where I was hoping to be by now, I hope to have a simple game done by the time time’s out
Now, what the player does is hack computers to gain control of them. Hacking a computer of the same OS and architecture is easy. Hacking a computer of different operating systems or architectures…not so much. The player needs to spend CPU each turn to do actions. Such as hacking a computer, learning how to hack a new OS or Architecture, running programs, etc. I’ll talk more about programs if I have time to implement them before time’s out.
There are quite a few features I’d like to implement which I know I won’t be able to implement during this Ludum Dare, so what I plan on doing is first getting something simple and playable out, and then adding every feature I can. Sadly, I had to write the entire engine using only SDL and its complementary libraries. I’ve written countless game engines, but none were in a releasable format (I.E. built into their game), so I can’t use any of them for this project, which has taken most of my time until now.
I honestly don’t care how much I get done by the time the competition’s over; I’ve having a great time
And for your info, I’m continuing livestreaming the programming of this. If you want to watch, http://www.twitch.tv/addictgamer
