Supreme Intelligence’s Development

More or less a four hour late entry, and my first entry in a competition, I wanted to have some fun, AND make a game. What better place to do so than here?

If you’re interested in watching me develop this game, head on over to my livestream: http://www.twitch.tv/addictgamer

Game details:

Supreme intelligence pits you as an AI. Your goal is to evolve to survive, and ultimately…master, this harsh world. More details to come as development progresses.

Supreme Intelligence: Update 1

What’s been completed:

* A basic engine and some preliminary resources, such as the title screen. See: http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/4968/titlescren.png

What needs to be done next:

* Game logic.
* Some additions to the engine.

What will be done right now:

* Sleep.

But first, I’ll tell you all some more about the game.

As you all know, the theme is evolution. How does that tie into the game? You play an AI, who must evolve from its basic state, into a super intelligence – no, the supreme intelligence.
What threats will you overcome to complete your goal? That will soon be revealed…But first, I must rest my cramped neck in a state of unconsciousness.

Supreme Intelligence – Progress Update

Screenshot in-game.

Yup, there’s been progress.
Although I’m nowhere near where I was hoping to be by now, I hope to have a simple game done by the time time’s out :)

Now, what the player does is hack computers to gain control of them. Hacking a computer of the same OS and architecture is easy. Hacking a computer of different operating systems or architectures…not so much. The player needs to spend CPU each turn to do actions. Such as hacking a computer, learning how to hack a new OS or Architecture, running programs, etc. I’ll talk more about programs if I have time to implement them before time’s out.

There are quite a few features I’d like to implement which I know I won’t be able to implement during this Ludum Dare, so what I plan on doing is first getting something simple and playable out, and then adding every feature I can. Sadly, I had to write the entire engine using only SDL and its complementary libraries.  I’ve written countless game engines, but none were in a releasable format (I.E. built into their game), so I can’t use any of them for this project, which has taken most of my time until now.

I honestly don’t care how much I get done by the time the competition’s over; I’ve having a great time :)

And for your info, I’m continuing livestreaming the programming of this. If you want to watch, http://www.twitch.tv/addictgamer

Go check it out. It’s worth it.

I do NOT have a windows binary sadly D:
If somebody could compile one for me, I’d appreciate that.
I lack access to a windows computer and my cross compiler currently is extremely broken. Or rather, all of my cross compilers are.

Now, I must catch up on lost sleep, food, and socializing. I have a very bad neck cramp, but a cool little game.
I didn’t get to implement almost anything…but whatever. 4 hour late start, around 15 hours of sleep, breaks both days for food and breaks in lieu of self maintenance such as showering and health.

S special thanks to all who watched my livestream and/or gave moral support :)
