Ludum Dare 49

First Game Jam. . . umm I'M IN!

Hey. um. This is my first game jam. I don't usually interact much with people online or offline. Please don't hurt me. I'm not worth your time and energy.

I'll be using the following technologies to build my game, solo of course.

Javascript for the code.

Aseprite for the art.

notepad for planning.

I'm also thinking of using this new software I bought on steam Rytmik Studio for the music. I wonder how that'll go?

Anyways, I think I'm supposed to say it somewhere so. . . I'M IN!

Haha. That was fun actually. I hope all the games we make are wonderful and interesting. Thank you very much for reading this. Good luck and good hunting to all.

Day 1 Progress

I'm working on a post apocolypse magic world city builder. It was originally gonna be an RTS, but it ended up being something else. . . Oh well. It's unstable because the world you're playing in is unstable. Still adding things like that, but here's a picture of it for now. one.JPG

There's still a lot to be done, but most of the code for the core gameplay is done. I don't know if anyone else thinks so, but for me it's already been quite a lot of work. This past ~25 hours I feel like I've already sacrificed part of my soul. Haha. Anyways, let's all keep pushing on. Thanks for reading.

The Land Of The Hungry God

Well everyone, it's been a long past couple days, but here it is. Jams closing out. I barely managed to finish my game on time and get it uploaded. I was still fixing bugs until just a little while ago, and I never got the chance to add music or sfx. The game also lacks a built in tutorial, which I'm told makes it very difficult to play. Anyways, that's life I guess. I cut a lot of content from my initial plan, but I think my idea was a little too ambitious. It's my first jam though, and I learned a lot. If anyone wants to try playing it here's the link: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/49/the-land-of-the-hungry-god

and here's a obligatory cover image kind of thing plus a screenshot.

If anyone wants me to go rate their game by the way feel free to comment here. I can't make any promises, as my pc is a refurbished business desktop and the graphics card doesn't support modern versions of openGL. But, I will try and play your game if you comment here. Thanks for reading. I hope those of you who have finished your game are recovering slowly, and to those who have not finished yet, God help you.

Ludum Dare 50

I'm in!

Ludum dare 49 was my first ludum dare and my first jam in general. A lot of mistakes were made and a lot was learned, I'm excited to take that experience to ludum dare 50. I have high hopes for the themes I've been seeing, let's make some incredible games. . . I'm in.

Whoa! It's like a space game or something?

I did it! I completed a game for compo! And with 3 hours to spare this time! Huge improvement over ludum dare 49, my first ludum dare.

Last time, I barely finished fast enough to submit it to the jam category. The game had no music or sounds, and lacked a tutorial.

Well, with my new entry, it has all that and a little more. I had to cut a lot of features I thought would be essential to the game, but now with it finished, I'm happy regardless.

To all those still working on your compo games, I wish you all the luck in the world. I believe in you. Just push on a little more.

To all those working on your jam games. . . YOU DO NOT HAVE AS MUCH TIME AS YOU THINK. Seriously though, try and finish up, cause the deadline is right around the corner.

I suppose you could always submit to the new extra category if it comes down to it. Don't push yourself too hard. Your health is number one, you can't make games if you're not feeling well.

Oh yea, I forgot to say anything about my actual game. . . It's like a space game or something? You fly around and trade resources and battle space pirates. Manage fuel. Classic space fun. Here's a picture please use eye(s) to view it. game4.PNG

Ah, and a link to the game page as well: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/whoa-its-like-a-space-game-or-something

If you're feeling up to it, give it a try, and then tell me in the comments why it's terrible and why I'm terrible and that I should feel bad. And maybe, just maybe, come by once ratings are up and rate it too.

Anyways, bye now. Please take care. Good bye.

Ludum Dare 51

No idea what to do with this theme though

I suppose using themes you don't really like is part of the fun. . . I do feel kinda restrained though. At first glance, I can only think of arcade style games, which I'm not sure I feel like making. Gonna probably have to spend extra time this jam brain storming. Anyways, good luck folks, let's make some games.
